Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Another week, another hunt. First of all here is Minnie's "Funny Face". Don't you love her white eyebrows? No idea why it is the wrong way round again!
Promise this will be the last Prom dress one. Here it is "Hanging Around" before the night.
We went to harvest vegs at my Dad's house as he is away in America at the moment. As you can see thee is not much "Space" between the rows of peas!
Self explanatory "Sunset" My hubby took this when he went out shooting the other night
Last of all some lovely "Sweet" strawberries.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Goodness me these were even tougher than last weeks! A cushion provided me with "Concentric Circles". I was trying to do something with watch parts for "Gear" but in the end I went out to the car.... My husband and I are reaching that age now. I have worn glasses since I was 7 years old but he has always been very proud of his 20/20 vision. He kept saying to me that he won't read at night because "the light in this room is terrible isn't it?" or "Ooo the print in my book is very small". Eventually he bought himself some reading glasses and now we are both "Glazed"! Love marbles! We have lots in our house; this "Marble" is a "Two-er", remember them? And lastly a bit of fun with my webcam! I "Warped" my face....honest...I don't really look like this!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Oooo a right tricky bunch of prompts for this weeks Scavenger hunt! First off "Meet me at the Corner" and a shot of Jess cutting out the Prom dress she is making for Katy and turning a corner. One from the archives for "Mother Nature meets Technology" I'm not sure quite how techonological barbed wire is but hey, it's the best I could manage next to Nature's barbed wire, a bramble! More shots of the Prom dress for "One step at a time". A composed shot of the original 1950's step by step instructions along with some of the bits and pieces needed. At the moment, growing all around, are these amazing foxglove, "Standing Tall". It was a rubbish, gloomy, grey day for this shot so I did enhance the shocking pinkness slightly! So "What's wrong with this picture"? Anyone can see that it is Take That performing....what is wrong is the stage, the venue and the weather, (not that you can tell how windy and freezing cold it is!) That's because this is a Tribute band that I went to see last night and very good they were too, sounding amazing and creating a great atmosphere.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Not too hard this week as I was on Half Term. I went up to London on Thursday to buy fabric for Katy's Prom dress. Our train comes into London Bridge, right by the almost completed Shard (a new development of apartments and offices in some record-breakingly tall building)so my "Black and White" shot is looking up it. Yesterday I went to visit a very crafty friend Gilly. She scrapbooks; she has quite a lot of "Paper". This is just her plain paper. This shot is from my archives. A friend and I were at a 40th Birthday party and were being rather "Silly" with the cupcakes. Whilst at Gilly's I admired Helly's new bag; it was covered in "Spots". Earlier this week I had to "Travel" to Bournemouth to collect Jess from Uni. Obviously I didnt actually take this shot 'cos I'm driving!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

This is my favourite picture this week for "Peace". It is a shot through our local graveyard, towards the park. The yew tree you can just see on the right is over 2000 years old and has been dated as before Christ.....I can't really get my head around that. Imagine what it must have seen.
As part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations two of my children took part in a concert at a nearby church. They were also having a Flower Festival too and this arrangement was all made from "Plain" white flowers. Shocking lighting in the church I'm afraid!
At the front of the church was this huge crown! Not my taste but a good one for "Shine"!
"Left" is my way home....to Uckfield. We have so many of these fingerposts that I forget just how pretty they are compared to the usual metal road signs!
I didn't see anything "Fast" this week. Just how fast the actual week went so you can have this shot of the strawberry jam I made yesterday reaching it's "fast boil" stage!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Once again I have had such a busy week that I barely had time to turn around so all my shots this week are quick snaps! First off is "Beneath My Feet" I took this whilst waiting for the children to come out of school.
One from the archive for "Capturing Movement". The sparrows just love to bathe in the puddles on the top of the hot tub!
"Currently" we are experiencing a very, very hot and sunny spell of weather. We went on a school trip on Tuesday and time was short so I just dropped my hand down by my side (holding the camera obviously!) and snapped!
I'm not scared of much really. So to "face my fears" I had to take a shot of the one thing that I really HATE! I just cannot sleep if the wardrobe door is open; not even a crack. My husband gets so cross when I ask him to shut it! So this is a shot of that scary, scary crack!
Last of all is a piece of wood that was in the picnic area on the school trip. One of the girls came and wanted to show me this unusual lumpy "Texture" of the tree...her word!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Another Sunday and another set of pictures for you!
First off is "Metal" and a shot of Hastings Pier. This pier was burnt down in an arson attack last year and they are still trying to decide who and how it is going to be re-built.

"Trees". I drive through tree-lined roads every day and it's only this week that I have really noticed them and realised just how lucky I am. This was further brought home to me yesterday when my daughter came back from Uni in Bournemouth and couldn't believe just how green it is here in Sussex. This is one of the prettier tree lined roads with their roots all growing through the rock.

"Rainbow". I thought this was going to be impossible; after all they hardly ever appear when you have a camera, let alone in a specific week! However I was off out delivering or collecting children but when I got home my Hubby said "Did you see the rainbow? He had rushed out and snapped it from the back door and it began on my neighbour's house. Unusually he could see the whole bow and it was a double one but the camera ran out of battery after just 2 shots!

"Fluffy" I thought of all sorts of animal type pictures but in the end you have a dandelion head that Eliza picked me!

Lastly a quick (and rubbish) snap for "Letters". I had a great idea for one at school but was just toobusy to take it so I had to do this one late last night.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

This seems to be all I can manage at the moment! I just have not had time to craft for ages but I am going to Burnice's tomorrow so maybe I will have something pretty to show you then!
Meanwhile on with this week's offerings. One out of the archives for "In the Mirror". Last year we had an art and science week at school and the children did a lot of work using concave and convex mirrors as "Sky Mirrors" This is the sky in the playground...

For "Close up" I had some lovely shots of a peony in my garden with raindrops on it but not one was in focus for some reason! Still we have another rainy shot as that seems to be all the weather we have had since they announced a hosepipe ban! This is my washing line...

My clock in the lounge for "Time". We had this as a wedding present 22 years ago and it chimes every quarter. Annoying to vistors but we don't even hear it now! Check out the accidental-but-rather-cool-reflection in the bottom of the shot! That's me and the lounge window!

Being a Brit I wasn't quite sure what a "sidewalk" was. Is it a proper pavement with kerbs and everything or is it just any old pathway? Can it be a path through a wood for example or does it need to be next to the road? I plumped for the middle option; a tarmac path that runs up the side of my house that we walk the dogs up every day.

Lastly is "inspiration". Well what could I photograph for this as everything inspires me! It could be a word, a song, something my children say but in the end I decided that if I need to seek inspiration this bookcase is where I go. Messy, but it's where my papercraft, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet, cross stitch, cookery, gardening and any other hobby type book lives.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Been a bit of a mad week here....had Guide Camp but I HAVE managed to get my pics done this week! So, first off is "Shadow". Last weekend was our 22nd wedding anniversary so we went out for dinner to a lovely place in Lewes. We sat inside but these daffodils were sat on the outside tables in the pouring rain making rather cool shadows on the table.

Next is "Unedited". The next day (after our meal out) we went to see my FIL and his new wife. Whilst there we went to see their new bungalow and then walked to the sea front, passing this rather cool building "thing". Bit wonky but I had to just snap and run so I wouldn't be left behind!

Now "Smile"...beach huts always make me smile....I'd love a beach hut but they are waaaaay to expensive! We saw these ones on the same walk.

"Keys"; fairly obvious this one. We got this piano for free and had to spend £50 to have it moved into our house! Two of my girls play but obvioulsy not often enough as it's a bit dusty!

Now "Fish" had me stumped for a while. But whilst on our Guide camp this weekend we did some backwoods cooking; that's cooking with no utensils or pots and pans. We had plaice, with vegetables, wrapped in foil and baked in the fire. One of my fellow leaders knew how I was struggling to get my pic so used the fish to create this rather artistic fish!!!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

Some tough ones this week, so off we go!

First off is "Yellow". On my first day back at school my class teacher presented me with thie beautiful bunch of yellow flowers as a late Easter gift.

"In the Sun"...Minnie was lying with her front end in a patch of afternoon sun in the doorway into the lounge. The dogs are only allowed into the lounge by invitation so she was gradually creeping in to be in the sun!

"Splash". I borrowed my friend's son for these shots! He loves to have a bath in the kitchen sink. Now I love the shot of his little hand in the water but...

...how could I resist showing you his cheeky little face and a bit more splashyness!

"Something that made me laugh". Lots made me laugh this week, like a man whose umbrella blew inside out and a child saying "powl of borridge" instead of "bowl of porridge" but I couldn't get them into photos. So instead you get a v.v quick snap of my daughter Katy using my sewing machine. Now Katy is a very clever girl but she does not sew! She needed the machine for some school work so I had set it up on the slowest speed and she was managing fine until the bobbin ran out. I was in a rush so whooshed the speed to max to wind it quickly and then went back to what I was doing. She then used the machine, off it went at about 100mph and she was squealing and shrieking, trying to hold the fabric so it wouldn't run away and trying to find the button to stop the machine!! I guess you had to be there but we laughed til we cried!

Finally is "Ancient". I have this very old, velvet jacket hanging above my stairs. I know very little about it, my Dad gave it to me years ago and said it belong to a Persian Prince many years ago!
