On day 28 we thought about those things that are special to Christmas or special about Christmas. Every year we make Cumberland Rum butter which is basically rum, butter and brown sugar and we have it spread on toast. And every year I cannot find or remember the recipe! So this time I have written it in my Journal along with the one for brandy butter so I know where they are! I look in Delia's book every year but her recipes are just not the ones I use which I guess must have come from my Mum!
Generally people seem to have a bit more time to complete their journals now the mad panic is over and quite a lot were still lucky enough to be off work still on 29th. This gave us a chance to look through our Journal so far and think about that topic that was missing or maybe the story about THIS Christmas that just hadn't been told so far. My page is about DD2 and her Bingo game....was really pleased with these pics so nice to be able to use them!
Day 30 and the end of the year approaching so this page was a summary of the year. I tried to include something about everyone in the family but I obviously haven't achieved anything this year so am not mentioned!!! Whilst I quite like this LO (which I again copied) I am a bit disappointed with the plain strip down the edge but I can't think what to do there! Tried paper, ribbon etc so I think it will just stay like this and I will have to just move on!!
I can hear OH attacking ice with a spade so I think I better go and look busy too!

Snow Day!
No doubt like the rest of the country, we had a snow day yesterday! Well the children have got a bit blase about all the snow and only my son bothered to go sledging. So as we were all here together (OH had a rest day anyway) I MADE them all come out in the snow together to build a snowman! Meet Derek.. a smiley chap, especially after a Guiness!

Journal Day 25, 26 and 27
Christmas Day. Well what can go on really other than a photo montage! So just a few highlights of the day.
Boxing Day always seems to follow a tradition in our house! It is very much part of Christmas and is ALWAYS cold meat day. We start at lunchtime and just keep on eating! I decided to lay down the "Rules" of our Boxing Day!
Day 27 was a chance to think about how our sleep pattern changes over the holiday. Just a bit of journalling and a pic of my sleepy dog. Why do they always look soooooo cosy? Went a bit OTT with the pearls here but hey....
Don't know about you but we had another snow day here! We built Derek...who I will show you tomorrow! And as it is Twelfth Night my Journal finished today too. I spent the day journalling that last page (plus one for the reverse of it) and finishing the cover too. Those pics will follow in due course. I also very diligently sorted out all the bits I had in one bag for that project and put them all away neatly!!! Now that is unheard of....!

C for Child Tag
Do you remember aaaages ago I was taking part in a weekly challenge over on UK Stampers? We were making a tag for every letter of the alphabet. Well now Christmas etc is out the way I thought I would finish off the last few as I only have 8 left to do! So here is C for Child...simple stamping, colouring in and I used H2Os stickles and water colour pencils. Nice and simple!
Days 22, 23 and 24
Day 22 was a chance to make a list of all those things you still haven't done! A shorter list for me this year...and I tend to DO those things on the day that I scrap them. Guilt I guess! Again this button idea was taken from another scrappers page....
Well I think I must have had a lot of time on my hands on 23rd! I decided to create this fireplace to write about our stocking traditions. The journalling is behind the miri-card mirror!
Finally 24th...Christmas Eve. This is just a collection of pics of things I did on that day...iced the cake. Again I must have had too much time as I decided to handmake icing poinsettias and hand colour them! Bonkers or what! Still it did look quite pretty as I DID think it might just look like I had bled all over them! The other pics were the beautiful ice formed inside the hens water feeder, all leafy and pretty!

Journal Days 19, 20 and 21.
For Day 19 we had to write a letter. Now this could be to anyone; a relative no longer with you; someone you never write to maybe or those letters to Santa. Writing to Santa has never been a big part of our Christmas so for this I found some lovely notelets to print off and the children transcribed their lists into letter form.
Day 20 was about surprises, either postal or otherwise. Or you could just write about Christmas post. There was an additional challenge to use some stationary or stamps so I saved all the stamps from my cards so far and journalled on a postcard!
Day 21 was to go and take pics of your house as it was right then. To show how ready you were (or weren't!) So my pics are of some already wrapped presents, the tree and the view from my children's bedroom showing their paper snowflakes! My cat also decided she wanted to sleep under the tree. Well she is 19 and rather senile, so we just let her wander about and do as she pleases so we left her too it! She did get very miffed once we put pressies there tho....

Journal days 16, 17 &18.
Day 16 and a day to think about the things we are grateful for at this time of year. These could be sensible or not so! I remember last year I was grateful for anti-bacterial spray as we all had a tummy bug! Nothing so dramatic this year...just what I was feeling at the time.
Now Days 17 and 18 I decided to swap around as I was behind by this time. We had the most fantastic snowfall on 18th and the prompt for 17th was "The Perfect Gift" which I felt fitted better as I didn't want to share any things I had bought! So I did the 18th on 17th and wrote a small piece about our Christmas Day Menu...not very pleased with this one..bit dull!
So to 18th and I am sure most of you were in the same position; an enforced day off school and an early start to the hols because of the snow! Well this was just the best gift ANY child could want so close to Christmas so I just had to include it!. Lets face it, how often do we get snow like this, let alone before the Big Day!!!
Thanks for bearing with me! I am back to work tomorrow so I expect the blogging will drop off a bit too! Do keep popping in; I may surprise you by blogging more often!
