Over the summer hols I did a bit of finishing off and some small projects. I need to take some pictures but here is a little project that I did when I got back from my holiday in Scotland. A cosy for my cafetiere....in the colours of my kitchen!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFIBYIxh4SFRr1epyRkyZW2Al0LJZDqZvx1gWVFfO18dOQM4LkwUWLSnHgbBeQCWcv-7MdlsEHL2Uy9zPkodDHLb-8SeSsoJW6KAUTEj_YZGW6xApeBhYNwfjxhMjc4jf1jz1pVfeqs4/s1600/Cafetiere+cosies+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjgFIBYIxh4SFRr1epyRkyZW2Al0LJZDqZvx1gWVFfO18dOQM4LkwUWLSnHgbBeQCWcv-7MdlsEHL2Uy9zPkodDHLb-8SeSsoJW6KAUTEj_YZGW6xApeBhYNwfjxhMjc4jf1jz1pVfeqs4/s400/Cafetiere+cosies+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
I liked this one so much that I made one to go in our camper too!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZznZIDgu7gAPjdVmCAQRpjViekUmgtstGbnqLZZ-0YzEMHzYyQt7o8O-iHjf0exrljHjHRCXFH5o-eybXsNgWu5_rEwiKYzHvv5rrF8v0TQnm4qJLDRknR7HtcBhYCpTUOy5fOWaHZlw/s1600/Cafetiere+cosies+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZznZIDgu7gAPjdVmCAQRpjViekUmgtstGbnqLZZ-0YzEMHzYyQt7o8O-iHjf0exrljHjHRCXFH5o-eybXsNgWu5_rEwiKYzHvv5rrF8v0TQnm4qJLDRknR7HtcBhYCpTUOy5fOWaHZlw/s400/Cafetiere+cosies+(3).JPG" /></a></div>
And here they are together...
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBKzBNQn5Wp4oxSX2qP381JetKIHNlooSszsafliR8YbJ3Q3hLpbmiYVTII_9XX0DwTXuUWlypLpsDDVfWenxrCYh6taHXqw-YU5KuQQGCGLUNSVjf-Sgy9Y2fJ3Pa-2I4q3eBrJyLxWI/s1600/Cafetiere+cosies+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBKzBNQn5Wp4oxSX2qP381JetKIHNlooSszsafliR8YbJ3Q3hLpbmiYVTII_9XX0DwTXuUWlypLpsDDVfWenxrCYh6taHXqw-YU5KuQQGCGLUNSVjf-Sgy9Y2fJ3Pa-2I4q3eBrJyLxWI/s400/Cafetiere+cosies+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
No colour scheme to adhere to in the camper, just a mix of my cottons!

I got this fabric at Sandown...just £5 a metre.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNsmvzC_DBi0ivvbXrdT4lUnuqqT0DpSM9KWMyd7SK2MYL0s8zHHQWGdIMOw4NMMEMHWXSxrtiSTutOeIcw8i3yf8A0k-nZBNgvfxeY_2w7nvWqFJKihrQixc7kgc-1smZTFN56kli0BI/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNsmvzC_DBi0ivvbXrdT4lUnuqqT0DpSM9KWMyd7SK2MYL0s8zHHQWGdIMOw4NMMEMHWXSxrtiSTutOeIcw8i3yf8A0k-nZBNgvfxeY_2w7nvWqFJKihrQixc7kgc-1smZTFN56kli0BI/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
Look at these fab little houses
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy2SEBOtp006QPnVBsTjGngqYUddB8XJO34OIKJZSsHWFoSUP-Ps_RchAJXE60J2Y8meGKLWbbThM91kZlvjxk2gTBD_2_MlHL_E9zw1XhjiwQc3VcgxuNaN22zdPQpikt6HQVKMRtb58/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhy2SEBOtp006QPnVBsTjGngqYUddB8XJO34OIKJZSsHWFoSUP-Ps_RchAJXE60J2Y8meGKLWbbThM91kZlvjxk2gTBD_2_MlHL_E9zw1XhjiwQc3VcgxuNaN22zdPQpikt6HQVKMRtb58/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
When I was in America last year I bought a twister tool that is an easy way to make pinwheel quilts. I have been desperate to try it out so today I quickly whizzed up some four patches.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN2-xnrF8MupKHd-rANszpHZP0ypuxZE25reSP6YGAYVwoPhFI139KPqPRdvAQ82Utwzo-BkTo_-s3IPHa3fh8bn84mDJ3hRd0nzIFi5cNOURURdtnK5HfSJw5EGf2VjuXmi9Wr2wRX_s/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN2-xnrF8MupKHd-rANszpHZP0ypuxZE25reSP6YGAYVwoPhFI139KPqPRdvAQ82Utwzo-BkTo_-s3IPHa3fh8bn84mDJ3hRd0nzIFi5cNOURURdtnK5HfSJw5EGf2VjuXmi9Wr2wRX_s/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(3).JPG" /></a></div>
Just look at my nested seams!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-9AgsXukT88ndqPSjg-r5R7tdN4Wbk0nmTm3_1jALdodchoOtykrDe-WiH4O_5p17JFnKHhP2n-p3znGSmTZreKLr6Blbvxkb5IiOxYvnF4-gy6WbU1vB-N-4TebtHUnNVzrADpGbCnE/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-9AgsXukT88ndqPSjg-r5R7tdN4Wbk0nmTm3_1jALdodchoOtykrDe-WiH4O_5p17JFnKHhP2n-p3znGSmTZreKLr6Blbvxkb5IiOxYvnF4-gy6WbU1vB-N-4TebtHUnNVzrADpGbCnE/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(4).JPG" /></a></div>
Then you lay the twisty thingy on the top, lining up the seams and re-cut the squares; these are now 10" squares.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5atL0_BLOCpxpPiJ43rZJXMMRuttDwD4pI-kNnxX641uIMHT_0vrymFXvowVmy9unRuq50Nr7TSDJRjmmTBNu0IUcMalAaYkrgWOWrmkJ_G9Iamd4N64FZ0nmyyPSxyU5I13KiTlnXYo/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5atL0_BLOCpxpPiJ43rZJXMMRuttDwD4pI-kNnxX641uIMHT_0vrymFXvowVmy9unRuq50Nr7TSDJRjmmTBNu0IUcMalAaYkrgWOWrmkJ_G9Iamd4N64FZ0nmyyPSxyU5I13KiTlnXYo/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(5).JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEecJMPHVquu2xiI_HbS2yJS5HqOfyFnQeA1XGIzpG6WOw8fz_gG7uP-PLxF2XXs78P4WpdnRF0auCHXGt1PoRHIKDu7p9vjZfdT2wN7gFE-TFI1iFRrQNbDHO3N3YTrDTSOMaXDoWBq4/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEecJMPHVquu2xiI_HbS2yJS5HqOfyFnQeA1XGIzpG6WOw8fz_gG7uP-PLxF2XXs78P4WpdnRF0auCHXGt1PoRHIKDu7p9vjZfdT2wN7gFE-TFI1iFRrQNbDHO3N3YTrDTSOMaXDoWBq4/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(7).JPG" /></a></div>
Then you arrange them all into the pinwheel shapes and sew them all together.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfojSFfK3huNLz7gpmL34jOfqT5LNG5n5e4qyB53I4PkaeJPzTjYM1gk8-Si37u-qeheJOsCvcZNUFsn8R7ATfSUiNDvlMohGFBEiCJEkm17CMCwWeBmo-XJhadRQl-WGi59wBoJ6E-MA/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(8).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfojSFfK3huNLz7gpmL34jOfqT5LNG5n5e4qyB53I4PkaeJPzTjYM1gk8-Si37u-qeheJOsCvcZNUFsn8R7ATfSUiNDvlMohGFBEiCJEkm17CMCwWeBmo-XJhadRQl-WGi59wBoJ6E-MA/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(8).JPG" /></a></div>
BAM! one pinwheel quilt; but it needed some borders so I went for a 2" one in green
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4LmLnrphcUIkzibMvsefaQV8C5EUdVFT5P6LGLwB6drjoS1vJpMLR-QYw03MhoM3ZhsDUqp-sf8Pzwu_lrrO_adiCIy41mv0mKMGxlf20eHyUtWwS2Hhecpj7B0JAnR1axUnOCCbgckI/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(10).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4LmLnrphcUIkzibMvsefaQV8C5EUdVFT5P6LGLwB6drjoS1vJpMLR-QYw03MhoM3ZhsDUqp-sf8Pzwu_lrrO_adiCIy41mv0mKMGxlf20eHyUtWwS2Hhecpj7B0JAnR1axUnOCCbgckI/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(10).JPG" /></a></div>
then a 4" one in the gorgeous houses to make it a bit bigger.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUTiAYNuyxvGmNfeWz4gh2Qf0hbkYyoGYiOkACx81WlP_1K1YFPkGP9FqplI42gqhOC7xFhH5OeiFBSdRfPc82NgmNQvS97UEXRylsgl9yf0ZrKSwOtncmSs-z0TQNz8mIlTW9m-rCk1g/s1600/Pinwheel+quilt+(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUTiAYNuyxvGmNfeWz4gh2Qf0hbkYyoGYiOkACx81WlP_1K1YFPkGP9FqplI42gqhOC7xFhH5OeiFBSdRfPc82NgmNQvS97UEXRylsgl9yf0ZrKSwOtncmSs-z0TQNz8mIlTW9m-rCk1g/s400/Pinwheel+quilt+(11).JPG" /></a></div>
And here it is all together! Those pinwheels just look so effective! I can't quite believe how easy it was...it took me just under 4 hours to do!

When I actually got to see it , it was lots of cotton lawn blouses that she had made, they had got rather worn and faded, so she had put them aside to piece at some point. I chopped them all up with Burnice's help and discovered many beautiful prints.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicdn2x2_70mPjgVDc4AGR0g-hA2xQsB1Kuqk_cL4vkcWFDt2BjTAA4YYR6C5ZTTTi3qGuasSeG1kQOPBd9eZ1SeLvDzdEEovg0FzPMRQ30CPeCttvhxxPVlx8kmfJthg6FaYLlNfk7kak/s1600/Vintage+fabric+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicdn2x2_70mPjgVDc4AGR0g-hA2xQsB1Kuqk_cL4vkcWFDt2BjTAA4YYR6C5ZTTTi3qGuasSeG1kQOPBd9eZ1SeLvDzdEEovg0FzPMRQ30CPeCttvhxxPVlx8kmfJthg6FaYLlNfk7kak/s400/Vintage+fabric+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
I also became the proud owner of a 1900 Singer sewing machine that had belonged to hubbys mother and was sat in my loft. I thought it was an electric so when ai discovered it wasn't I whipped it off for a quick service so I could use it again. Look at this little beauty...
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNbIrocbBys5ojhzSumR7K3X-e1ICgv7yL_9rMtjpZveZGt-goDA0CwOjh7UErhBLlcktbDZpKTEzakOHJoEoTB1oT2S35ADNsuiWAdBn5QwyWyc2jT9dSrB4eNv6yTiga8boqmygWDe8/s1600/Vintage+squares+quilt+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNbIrocbBys5ojhzSumR7K3X-e1ICgv7yL_9rMtjpZveZGt-goDA0CwOjh7UErhBLlcktbDZpKTEzakOHJoEoTB1oT2S35ADNsuiWAdBn5QwyWyc2jT9dSrB4eNv6yTiga8boqmygWDe8/s400/Vintage+squares+quilt+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
Just look at this amazing bobbin winder...<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_P8S6SXLIuFwZhvwYdhhywIhQSuIVyZsdL4UhRkyQsOrvoQAcDivFRMMqagokpiiOcHwkAcVLh74cM1N3m9Ke5ftw3xzyWqLxPmqei0BT7jix3u0KBeq0ZUyzWq0un0jGA7SdzhoUIf4/s1600/Vintage+squares+quilt+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_P8S6SXLIuFwZhvwYdhhywIhQSuIVyZsdL4UhRkyQsOrvoQAcDivFRMMqagokpiiOcHwkAcVLh74cM1N3m9Ke5ftw3xzyWqLxPmqei0BT7jix3u0KBeq0ZUyzWq0un0jGA7SdzhoUIf4/s400/Vintage+squares+quilt+(3).JPG" /></a></div>
Anyway back to the quilt. I sorted the fabric a bit....remember the bird
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg516hjO1XXN0lB08gjcpoqG7fNHU14amxjExZ4z3EydEE1nikjgR1JQx70BAZHI7SP-RN0TPhsfXvIjp3bfEhCwJLpYzdigZWYvpyRO1Vdex5AJYAUqZSEmkWiqQnatbNe-ukjbowkA4k/s1600/Vintage+squares+quilt+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg516hjO1XXN0lB08gjcpoqG7fNHU14amxjExZ4z3EydEE1nikjgR1JQx70BAZHI7SP-RN0TPhsfXvIjp3bfEhCwJLpYzdigZWYvpyRO1Vdex5AJYAUqZSEmkWiqQnatbNe-ukjbowkA4k/s400/Vintage+squares+quilt+(4).JPG" /></a></div>
First job was to cut all the fabric into 2.5" squares. I decided to use this red for all the cornerstones as there was lots of it.
I think it had been a skirt
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKRsoCN4KuIUc-sIhYkatdXpBhpb2XbkARud7qdsTpBZy_s_Ru3ETKPRuNsQ4skBH1p-pK6VUF2JNA9CceMWAeBhL3kSC3r5hLSvou_mR7nGzfVg8MIvLqo2Hc7rbxavf7IKeKwpCHzLc/s1600/Vintage+squares+quilt+(6).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKRsoCN4KuIUc-sIhYkatdXpBhpb2XbkARud7qdsTpBZy_s_Ru3ETKPRuNsQ4skBH1p-pK6VUF2JNA9CceMWAeBhL3kSC3r5hLSvou_mR7nGzfVg8MIvLqo2Hc7rbxavf7IKeKwpCHzLc/s400/Vintage+squares+quilt+(6).JPG" /></a></div>
All the other colours I joined into four patches<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1rdn4zw63aKwGW4ktiatRLRtS7vd52-yIrIM2yK36x0kp8nBhD0GwKpwxV0XeKw5HuaAwkjn-rmWnqhgcQEiaQVPtV2cfus0Idqg1jHW-RDtXYdojMz984o1uuU1jAFXZ0wy19PrzDHA/s1600/Vintage+squares+quilt+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1rdn4zw63aKwGW4ktiatRLRtS7vd52-yIrIM2yK36x0kp8nBhD0GwKpwxV0XeKw5HuaAwkjn-rmWnqhgcQEiaQVPtV2cfus0Idqg1jHW-RDtXYdojMz984o1uuU1jAFXZ0wy19PrzDHA/s400/Vintage+squares+quilt+(7).JPG" /></a></div>
These were then sashed with 2.5" x 4.5" strips and so were the red squares

There is someone I know who I think might want this one. Sadly I love it so much that I'm afraid it's going to be a keeper!

I have never, ever labelled one. Not a single one. I have thought about it; I have even looked for a simple label solution but somehow it has just not happened!
So today Eliza was bored. "Why don't you see if you can work out how to use the memory on my sewing machine and make me some quilt labels" say I. "Ok" says she.
So of course once she has made them I have to sew them on.

Turns out I've made quite a lot of quilts! And these are just some of the ones still at home! I still have about 5 to go but we got a bit fed up. I also have a label ready for Jess's quilt that now lives in Bournemouth. So maybe they aren't perfect; a little wonky and wibbly in places but hey...they say who, why and when and what more do they need?Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-22357485715542664372014-07-19T19:15:00.000+01:002014-07-19T19:15:49.461+01:00Jane again...Still obsessed.....

And these blocks complete the first row of the quilt! Now because I have no desire to handstitch all 13 rows of sashing in one go. I decided to join each row as I go so here is the first finished row....

It's actually the last row because I decided to start at the end instead of the beginning!

Now I have cheated a bit and started my Dear Jane quilt but I was a good girl and dug out a disappearing 9 patch quilt that I made a while ago at a class. Once I got going it was very quick to do and I am quite pleased with the red and grey together! Grey is not a colour I would normally use but it was just right for this!

My name is Natasha and I am addicted to my newest project.....a Dear Jane quilt! For those of you who don't have a clue what I am on about take a look <a href="http://www.dearjane.com/">here</a> This lady sewed her quilt over 5 years and her quilt design has been converted into a book form so we can make our own "Jane " quilt.
So I have begun.....hand sewing it all.

There are the first 8 of 225! A little way to go but it is completely addictive. There are 13 rows of 13 squares and I am going to make a row, join it together with the sashing and then do another row. Let's hope I make it......Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-50054729034294157642014-06-29T17:07:00.002+01:002014-06-29T17:07:26.003+01:00Its been a while!Look just how long it has been since I blogged! Life has been super busy, what with SATS at school and my children doing exams and concerts etc etc. But I have been busy and creating. Way back in February a lady at work announced that she was having a baby. I was keen to knit for her and she said what she would really like is a large, white shawl. I remember my Aunt knitting me a beautiful lace one for my first child and then when I announced I was expecting twins, she knitted me a second one! They are much used and treasured and the most useful of items so I asked her for the pattern and decided this was THE ONE!
Well many a time I wondered just what was I doing, attempting such a pattern! It was lacy and huge and in 4 ply but I soldiered on and finally, finally I have finished it! Just as well because there was a surprise lunch for her today and it is the last day to see her!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-3Bb_1b1xcLsWNV0aCYxkxtKwvkBuo4GkR3Y-7czZZecKfmZhHfrOv_J7xU7QIEgf86e533Wb-THm7-XxXTJHLGO4WG64BsRiXQa975FSdX8JecUSvRti6kWMK6oaVDJNLO7dcMULLyE/s1600/Annas+Shawl+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-3Bb_1b1xcLsWNV0aCYxkxtKwvkBuo4GkR3Y-7czZZecKfmZhHfrOv_J7xU7QIEgf86e533Wb-THm7-XxXTJHLGO4WG64BsRiXQa975FSdX8JecUSvRti6kWMK6oaVDJNLO7dcMULLyE/s400/Annas+Shawl+(5).JPG" /></a></div>
This is the pattern of the centre....about 5ft square.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD52j5R4oqU0RgE8HiHRBDgeb1GfIXRxz62-CTWYLXnYcsU3WocWlDpNkIFam6oUX4hBWAv-L6-XXIyqgKUywTilbc02Em_4lLrx49IdYLlYd2wyjYy2mGr9RCrn2eX8VeLWjUY-HRuBc/s1600/Annas+Shawl+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhD52j5R4oqU0RgE8HiHRBDgeb1GfIXRxz62-CTWYLXnYcsU3WocWlDpNkIFam6oUX4hBWAv-L6-XXIyqgKUywTilbc02Em_4lLrx49IdYLlYd2wyjYy2mGr9RCrn2eX8VeLWjUY-HRuBc/s400/Annas+Shawl+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
And the lace edging; miles and miles and miles of it!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKL4XY9H5S0TPW81leYufVu4UfNXQQHsPV9DGBbBRe3ScTyoMyM-xZ9yncIGHEKi_x4_fbgoCTaTUR-BnjVmnWKuAGNSYxoFRE2exyuLLDAWzk3ta21heq0jFuKC6xMFIrKljpG5_9eZE/s1600/Annas+Shawl+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKL4XY9H5S0TPW81leYufVu4UfNXQQHsPV9DGBbBRe3ScTyoMyM-xZ9yncIGHEKi_x4_fbgoCTaTUR-BnjVmnWKuAGNSYxoFRE2exyuLLDAWzk3ta21heq0jFuKC6xMFIrKljpG5_9eZE/s400/Annas+Shawl+(4).JPG" /></a></div>
A rather nicely eased corner (if I may say so)
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiSuONrjkofzcPrrIP3zKObtlrXnlSuAgMrxJEb1FiJV2j8JFLp9eWcNssXD0-DzGjlHpd4TThvPXMbqDVHtj2RoVvJrKpj-T5bt1hgwP1Q0T1GoGLvXCGkVD0B-CWAuz6JkBgsXUPKP4/s1600/Annas+Shawl+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiSuONrjkofzcPrrIP3zKObtlrXnlSuAgMrxJEb1FiJV2j8JFLp9eWcNssXD0-DzGjlHpd4TThvPXMbqDVHtj2RoVvJrKpj-T5bt1hgwP1Q0T1GoGLvXCGkVD0B-CWAuz6JkBgsXUPKP4/s400/Annas+Shawl+(3).JPG" /></a></div>
And the final thing; that's on my king size bed for scale! I can't deny that I am relieved it's finished. There are several mistakes that I just couldn't rectify but hey, it's handmade. She was delighted with it....now I just hope she will use it or my labours will have been in vain!Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-30835491338575064752014-04-29T17:10:00.000+01:002014-04-29T17:10:42.003+01:00Feed Sacks....I think I might have told you but last year I went on holiday to Oregon, USA. Whilst I was there I visited an amazing patchwork shop called Tater Patch and they had just the most amazing range of fabrics. What I was really looking for was feedsacks. Those 1930s style ones that people used to make into quilts; I thought they would be easy to pick up but when I was chatting to the ladies there, they said that quilting fashion had moved on from feedsacks and that there really weren't that many about these days. Then just as I was leaving the shop, one of the ladies suddenly asked me to hang on a mo. She ran downstairs and came back with 7 feedsacks. They weren't of the 1930s vintage but they were very pretty, cotton fabrics. She gave them to me as a gift and I have been trying to decide what to do with them!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyhR_ce9rTGkzVQnNw4ykPC-bPztjst_sgvvvukCrKd423VLMUwHzUVLwCwryZnm6eUIW9oHbHOM9YQwUnSahxQ2a_jk8IXhj2UMM9QLGxP-WaIrNa6Lt8IWUylZD4n4lvPp2_9mdI1z8/s1600/Feed+sack+quilt+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyhR_ce9rTGkzVQnNw4ykPC-bPztjst_sgvvvukCrKd423VLMUwHzUVLwCwryZnm6eUIW9oHbHOM9YQwUnSahxQ2a_jk8IXhj2UMM9QLGxP-WaIrNa6Lt8IWUylZD4n4lvPp2_9mdI1z8/s400/Feed+sack+quilt+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
Guess what.....my latest favourite magazine came up trumps again!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5z93imRqQsDy6WNnVKJW0Iuk1iGJswHIikeFfoQ3MpPBpoy3stWxFy2zt_iJqVlgBSCLP4bu3UGJZikxjwyk7oGkr3qyp6qUQ_fWVIDmFqwEr6rbq2JDsGGto6FwV2vwzJy1qV3LjAmk/s1600/Feed+sack+quilt+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5z93imRqQsDy6WNnVKJW0Iuk1iGJswHIikeFfoQ3MpPBpoy3stWxFy2zt_iJqVlgBSCLP4bu3UGJZikxjwyk7oGkr3qyp6qUQ_fWVIDmFqwEr6rbq2JDsGGto6FwV2vwzJy1qV3LjAmk/s400/Feed+sack+quilt+(3).JPG" /></a></div>
This design would showcase the fabrics but also would have a bit more interest than plain squares. First job was to unpick the stitching on the sacks.Oh boy, that took ages! And this is how I know these are not very old sacks as the thread was a synthetic fibre that melted when I ironed it! That done I had 7 lovely big pieces of fabric so I cut out all my bits and also sashing from some plain white I had bought.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2JXTNIRL1_EbenpjEJNfGGAoKRqerUPBMZydYo_XiAZOcLH2Ej3MMcHoRiyC_kFohhZGr2sq23jReypSdHj9CYMwmxSLDGrtQ9kvvum9KHvstqMhCHzlYEmsqCXbP6-F9wqqpqJ-h9Ec/s1600/Feed+sack+quilt+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2JXTNIRL1_EbenpjEJNfGGAoKRqerUPBMZydYo_XiAZOcLH2Ej3MMcHoRiyC_kFohhZGr2sq23jReypSdHj9CYMwmxSLDGrtQ9kvvum9KHvstqMhCHzlYEmsqCXbP6-F9wqqpqJ-h9Ec/s400/Feed+sack+quilt+(4).JPG" /></a></div>
I love to see all the "kit" for a quilt laid out, ready to go! Next I assembled the blocks; 9 of each design.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9zMHx5iyhmDbHRLJ1cSw_hdXU6Z16WSlgqbBzrUiSAzeeYZhsrp-RpB-yWaBipXb6AHx3tAArqGFwcSWqvFDb5E9EVTl-FGgn_Bg_CmGq1xIg24Fe80iVyzHGTnV1OKsTKymaA0qd-MY/s1600/Feed+sack+quilt+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9zMHx5iyhmDbHRLJ1cSw_hdXU6Z16WSlgqbBzrUiSAzeeYZhsrp-RpB-yWaBipXb6AHx3tAArqGFwcSWqvFDb5E9EVTl-FGgn_Bg_CmGq1xIg24Fe80iVyzHGTnV1OKsTKymaA0qd-MY/s400/Feed+sack+quilt+(5).JPG" /></a></div>
Finally I laid them out, following the pattern in the magazine and stitched them all together with the white sashing. By now it was nearly midnight and I had spent 12 hours on it (with a break to cook and eat dinner).
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVljgvLarLb9ve47yhHeLUN6F60hzdepoefDgEgYMeSPapjAV0p-Vpyvr9ahSzfT-Tr_KlEEg-YfaDlGR126YsQrhqWqSlz04pDnkLvArQ3cozkzsN96JJedMu28U1xFSYeaMFtth6cxY/s1600/Feed+sack+quilt+(6).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVljgvLarLb9ve47yhHeLUN6F60hzdepoefDgEgYMeSPapjAV0p-Vpyvr9ahSzfT-Tr_KlEEg-YfaDlGR126YsQrhqWqSlz04pDnkLvArQ3cozkzsN96JJedMu28U1xFSYeaMFtth6cxY/s400/Feed+sack+quilt+(6).JPG" /></a></div>
So there is the top! All done. I have NO idea what to back it with but I am thinking a white quilt in our house is NOT going to be a good idea! I love the way the feedsacks really feature.
So there we have it: 3 quilts in 3 weeks (even though this isn't quite finished!)I think I might rest my poor machine for a bit now. Need some more supplies but Sandown is soon......Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-33608054302359385942014-04-26T16:15:00.000+01:002014-04-26T16:15:00.759+01:00Oops I did it again.....!Yep, I did that "oh I can do that, only take me an afternoon" thing again. Took me 4 days! But here is the final creative thing I made in my Easter Holidays. I was inspired by this front cover,
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSbcX7c0hz8h9wcsJhOWrOkcAzwYW5a5Z1HmGXeak65wXUXhyP1rYZZoLinLLHSsSvU2czDR_RUatEFYhbA3wUPpLwVJydjxvnqmiyHnDVkGxDeK6XYvqKTWm8pL-mt96uVfJ1usTQLis/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(16).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSbcX7c0hz8h9wcsJhOWrOkcAzwYW5a5Z1HmGXeak65wXUXhyP1rYZZoLinLLHSsSvU2czDR_RUatEFYhbA3wUPpLwVJydjxvnqmiyHnDVkGxDeK6XYvqKTWm8pL-mt96uVfJ1usTQLis/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(16).JPG" /></a></div>
and this <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/pin/70437468987325/">Pin</a> on Pinterest.
So I clambered off to the loft again and had a good old tidy up of all the trousers I have ever collected putting coloured ones in one suitcase, black ones in a fruit box and all the blue ones in a MASSIVE box. Then I made my selection of the largest and plainest pairs.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQXH7Hs5uofu9W3PoK1XQMCiBsWVUcOumLRJ2Usb8DrS97WmmGJpKSLK98-FFL99XkdrWoa9KrdjXktfqTN183sbIGjZJjhbXnmtgC8Y-EvhPKjKdZWRdxLS2gJ9a7pWX83hCXGCcAIv0/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQXH7Hs5uofu9W3PoK1XQMCiBsWVUcOumLRJ2Usb8DrS97WmmGJpKSLK98-FFL99XkdrWoa9KrdjXktfqTN183sbIGjZJjhbXnmtgC8Y-EvhPKjKdZWRdxLS2gJ9a7pWX83hCXGCcAIv0/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
Then I had to plan my version

Next job was drawing around my circle template which I did in biro so it would show up. As this was going to be inside it wouldn't show!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvi1xhr2UvfleWLEFemYuDLC8_NVSUdrIA085fq6lAsmgRHsxKa7fG7nQ3S6gu4R-96Wi2szWe1kmomSGtN0XMtXq2tFDVFB3YE1hDNwD0my8owSjWyhF0YYfMnVbqs8Vc8ZxnX4QPUz8/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvi1xhr2UvfleWLEFemYuDLC8_NVSUdrIA085fq6lAsmgRHsxKa7fG7nQ3S6gu4R-96Wi2szWe1kmomSGtN0XMtXq2tFDVFB3YE1hDNwD0my8owSjWyhF0YYfMnVbqs8Vc8ZxnX4QPUz8/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(3).JPG" /></a></div>
This was where the slow bit started; it took me over 4 hours to hand cut out all those circles! 140 of them!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1IgexP33_M89jrRw7pqU1ODMnlMSYdZMfXeZanRuNcLWVjIWCgJ8VRHmeGP7SZP4NSI3E-5WXxsUspK5OXvcGkzVrZihdKLrwIjQsUNH2n9bv3hErBHTf7Zr7jnBcqvYPkqL9UCTneM8/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1IgexP33_M89jrRw7pqU1ODMnlMSYdZMfXeZanRuNcLWVjIWCgJ8VRHmeGP7SZP4NSI3E-5WXxsUspK5OXvcGkzVrZihdKLrwIjQsUNH2n9bv3hErBHTf7Zr7jnBcqvYPkqL9UCTneM8/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(4).JPG" /></a></div>
I then drew around my square template on top of the circle and used this as the stitching line to sew my circles together
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb61EB8Q1s6dylxhwwXr0RtVhs4BcZPB1ud8Oqs189Ss5UdYZKuWusLqIre0IQGpB-7jI9OulPoNAN0EZeBeFjgx2BrSJOSOOCpgH6u1qG2vL1XCECVpEiLOt55r3a5KePr1rLBkiIeGM/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(6).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb61EB8Q1s6dylxhwwXr0RtVhs4BcZPB1ud8Oqs189Ss5UdYZKuWusLqIre0IQGpB-7jI9OulPoNAN0EZeBeFjgx2BrSJOSOOCpgH6u1qG2vL1XCECVpEiLOt55r3a5KePr1rLBkiIeGM/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(6).JPG" /></a></div>
A fair bit of ironing was required after each row and then I tucked my fabric squares into the pressed circles and stitched them down with a long, wavy zig-zag stitch
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCvdH_8nnbgiNCf1UIbS6T7Cv0NKDfeeLdS2q4eTj8kAxwP-Ou6GXsws4QDBI4RZFSSoQc1OTtvBcyM9J9ZhhPXz1yFK0olkmdenpZrOrCSdeOFlO81T_bZB4LyEHHVoLPbjq8Napl6k/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNCvdH_8nnbgiNCf1UIbS6T7Cv0NKDfeeLdS2q4eTj8kAxwP-Ou6GXsws4QDBI4RZFSSoQc1OTtvBcyM9J9ZhhPXz1yFK0olkmdenpZrOrCSdeOFlO81T_bZB4LyEHHVoLPbjq8Napl6k/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(5).JPG" /></a></div>
I mistakenly thought this would be super quick to put together but I added fabric after I had joined each row of circles and that meant that at the end I then had to turn the quilt through 90 degrees to do the other two sides of the square.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6kJELnZCOc-zch5S6j0dawpz_cDX72iavNB8Q_nNGFAOC7Kfx9aZRZPkP0UxcLpEdE6SyIYq8U3la0A3rn1L0Jq1Gz_i8k67QUZXVM4HfaHOr7mOZfS727ehyphenhyphenHchBVFYtGIL-J0StPj8/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(9).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6kJELnZCOc-zch5S6j0dawpz_cDX72iavNB8Q_nNGFAOC7Kfx9aZRZPkP0UxcLpEdE6SyIYq8U3la0A3rn1L0Jq1Gz_i8k67QUZXVM4HfaHOr7mOZfS727ehyphenhyphenHchBVFYtGIL-J0StPj8/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(9).JPG" /></a></div>
I bought a pack of 6 fat quarters in paisley to be my middles and they all pull it together quite nicely. So finally after 3 days machining and over 1000m of navy thread (yes really that much!) it is done! I love the back with the different denims and the faint wiggles...
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwLBxbfxQ-biXQzW6x0qXV11Js_SZCHwM2UWPu3uhYM5xyCAjtzA85J2zimhQzoEccUdA2ZemJ7P3hbaimGwD2hUkFt7c4PLHApaDLiMWv6MIjlaDGUXdnMVBCXiy7npro918loWFbxMQ/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(10).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwLBxbfxQ-biXQzW6x0qXV11Js_SZCHwM2UWPu3uhYM5xyCAjtzA85J2zimhQzoEccUdA2ZemJ7P3hbaimGwD2hUkFt7c4PLHApaDLiMWv6MIjlaDGUXdnMVBCXiy7npro918loWFbxMQ/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(10).JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikYkpnKK7FAmibNKxPosOJMhqIuiqfYzzBF2LvgIXUPYPXcfAyX_6TA4c0auYE06jSIknbau4t0L48gu3AxxvMcNgAxsIih_nkBHAMue86iJD1ohTET4CdVvoLolN4n7u-4yVe5rAqehc/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikYkpnKK7FAmibNKxPosOJMhqIuiqfYzzBF2LvgIXUPYPXcfAyX_6TA4c0auYE06jSIknbau4t0L48gu3AxxvMcNgAxsIih_nkBHAMue86iJD1ohTET4CdVvoLolN4n7u-4yVe5rAqehc/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(11).JPG" /></a></div>
And it looks great next to the other denim one too! I think of them as "Circles In, Circles Out!"
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCH3zbo7pA9tIQnR8HRz-CsqL4taY1AJk_RVfnyIeDo5c2FWVhWvPrBuRdJanleKAIl78QcWFmCmi0RIj636kY4akq0CEBeYwVRpU05RKcGhacONEiUS7GxwoCEgCOI-7BLUDNEgULqUk/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(13).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCH3zbo7pA9tIQnR8HRz-CsqL4taY1AJk_RVfnyIeDo5c2FWVhWvPrBuRdJanleKAIl78QcWFmCmi0RIj636kY4akq0CEBeYwVRpU05RKcGhacONEiUS7GxwoCEgCOI-7BLUDNEgULqUk/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(13).JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzYnvewVs9L_exW2eaA2WBEtsMkqOL9mKbKGGgYYnyHzdSHX9xBBGulmujXqfvjS2wXYbD765TiYrXfRX7wFzL-8nugGq2n8kJLS6-nidwg8Csl9-L5vsKf-gzZz_kGWUTxAXB_kLfqMc/s1600/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(14).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzYnvewVs9L_exW2eaA2WBEtsMkqOL9mKbKGGgYYnyHzdSHX9xBBGulmujXqfvjS2wXYbD765TiYrXfRX7wFzL-8nugGq2n8kJLS6-nidwg8Csl9-L5vsKf-gzZz_kGWUTxAXB_kLfqMc/s400/Denim+Cathedral+Windows+(14).JPG" /></a></div>
And as an extra bonus, some of those zig-zagged edges are going to go all lovely and frayed with use.....

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ5HDaA8fVsb05_KFAGbSeF_Pg72kXaz5lmtwdpdtsMzRiYCBeEmMeOy0EGN21A_RWwgSsaPdnnBBJMjcb9Gxgef3wjisjyx8ilTRaiJFGBfuvoF1z7kkNwN62Iu-yoHus3UtNmHvxmm4/s1600/IMG_6817.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJ5HDaA8fVsb05_KFAGbSeF_Pg72kXaz5lmtwdpdtsMzRiYCBeEmMeOy0EGN21A_RWwgSsaPdnnBBJMjcb9Gxgef3wjisjyx8ilTRaiJFGBfuvoF1z7kkNwN62Iu-yoHus3UtNmHvxmm4/s400/IMG_6817.JPG" /></a></div>
He quite liked eating my Easter Tree! I have been whizzing on and now I have finished my 6 crochet squares too.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMLknYYKt1-gtTjT4FrqgxO2z_illVk0OwE9Mqo_CrPKyNEi1OGLxt7Jo4YuBGayJsIA0Rejy78kU13lD5wMnlzpORtk0rYgmy4SyuXGkKDuKO5AG1kQLsiiPL9c_1gNbwyw-wKQ25UxI/s1600/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMLknYYKt1-gtTjT4FrqgxO2z_illVk0OwE9Mqo_CrPKyNEi1OGLxt7Jo4YuBGayJsIA0Rejy78kU13lD5wMnlzpORtk0rYgmy4SyuXGkKDuKO5AG1kQLsiiPL9c_1gNbwyw-wKQ25UxI/s400/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(12).JPG" /></a></div>
I have also made myself a skirt! This was quite easy but I did learn a new skill; how to put in an invisible zip. I have put zips in before but not invisible ones and I was quite pleased with how "invisible" it ended up!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSMEWHo32ZHQnw1kJXmMNit2rKrmUFN435KFlCre5lGqW4E4FkXurJaECNfe9na0jAt0HWNH-9Us40hPpfpBuTLULa29rGmoNbMTI5LG7Bce0Y-M1vtU4_Ihudg2rgnlAkYltMm1KyZHg/s1600/IMG_6833.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSMEWHo32ZHQnw1kJXmMNit2rKrmUFN435KFlCre5lGqW4E4FkXurJaECNfe9na0jAt0HWNH-9Us40hPpfpBuTLULa29rGmoNbMTI5LG7Bce0Y-M1vtU4_Ihudg2rgnlAkYltMm1KyZHg/s400/IMG_6833.JPG" /></a></div>
I did have a panic when I had nearly finished and held the skirt up against me...it looked like it was going to be far too small! Luckily when I tried it on it was a perfect fit...especially as I am now loosing weight.. With a few more pounds off it will be even better.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioKTk0B1tHBPZsoLx3UJN8ZeYePNaxK9iaAyuB3Y3saWjCXSwTemkKAv6PTeHbKJs1FBRCaiEWlLSRpggsrJsqfVvqq2gMq1XKQkYcYwjJQjRqFRuOtXUp0_Cm5wQcO2J0hVhg4P8m13s/s1600/IMG_6829.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEioKTk0B1tHBPZsoLx3UJN8ZeYePNaxK9iaAyuB3Y3saWjCXSwTemkKAv6PTeHbKJs1FBRCaiEWlLSRpggsrJsqfVvqq2gMq1XKQkYcYwjJQjRqFRuOtXUp0_Cm5wQcO2J0hVhg4P8m13s/s400/IMG_6829.JPG" /></a></div>
Last thing to show you tomorrow I hope!Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-52090727384186269482014-04-17T19:34:00.000+01:002014-04-17T19:34:22.111+01:00Getting square eyes?Done some more of my crochet squares...you know, the REALLY bright ones. I am onto this months 16. Here are Linda's choice:
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjas6mkpFycPdrj0LXFq5a-JoSZv_Mj_pX8M54TM2ZoJnYuWlrHc_ntD4HX0FBFXxP8Nd6mWhU-eSzi4JuB47Uww_zi9rBrGbp89tycRLW1Qulw6SbEw-TVYScaD8cFtUDU5WYANcrlA_g/s1600/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjas6mkpFycPdrj0LXFq5a-JoSZv_Mj_pX8M54TM2ZoJnYuWlrHc_ntD4HX0FBFXxP8Nd6mWhU-eSzi4JuB47Uww_zi9rBrGbp89tycRLW1Qulw6SbEw-TVYScaD8cFtUDU5WYANcrlA_g/s400/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(11).JPG" /></a></div>
The one with the little squares took ages!
These are Burnice's choice:
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVnYgyjix1T9eMTr6K9cM38XvZrpydSIFY2BUNUsHCxFiPCeXMtQ6DXk0if8-V_SjB2ziYa1ZOiraF4GGFhSc6lvDXknsgfiWKNyEjO3HS8eHip3vNcbJrQrtKmAtIU2UdUFMwCsQU6aE/s1600/Craft+Cabin+crochet+(10).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVnYgyjix1T9eMTr6K9cM38XvZrpydSIFY2BUNUsHCxFiPCeXMtQ6DXk0if8-V_SjB2ziYa1ZOiraF4GGFhSc6lvDXknsgfiWKNyEjO3HS8eHip3vNcbJrQrtKmAtIU2UdUFMwCsQU6aE/s400/Craft+Cabin+crochet+(10).JPG" /></a></div>
Now just got my 6 to do! Then I will be up to 54 out of the 100 we are planning!
Oooo I am getting a lot of creative things done this hols. Got some more dressmaking under way too.....Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-65927299804967203392014-04-16T17:16:00.000+01:002014-04-16T17:16:35.139+01:00A sideways move?I LOVE the holidays! SO much time to do what I want to do! Especially now my littlies are biggies and don't require entertaining!
So as well as my quilt I have ventured in dressmaking...
A few weeks ago this magazine came free with a Sunday paper
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEC8ju5p9lLa66PxqUdheM58qMmWKMP_XCFW88DSYrdL2YcpS2dP89WhR7ObvIhslgb_YglBCokLFGkIoGZa0klR3mpPPSGrYBlkeVd6ApDHw93C6vpKj0T99fZGanQlOkPUhVwdEX29c/s1600/Dress+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEC8ju5p9lLa66PxqUdheM58qMmWKMP_XCFW88DSYrdL2YcpS2dP89WhR7ObvIhslgb_YglBCokLFGkIoGZa0klR3mpPPSGrYBlkeVd6ApDHw93C6vpKj0T99fZGanQlOkPUhVwdEX29c/s400/Dress+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
In it was this dress using stretch fabric
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixdCqlviPyM7dXQia9EbJsUHh5v2pPhOP4FqhqW3Sz60p_v2sMay7G8bK2_aRiY7kiHJOpTP2xY40icjcx3KNB2ZV-fiWr4L5Un7DhVplJY-EfRWMVfUFbkQgC9APcolKiopiJmCSlCPY/s1600/Dress+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixdCqlviPyM7dXQia9EbJsUHh5v2pPhOP4FqhqW3Sz60p_v2sMay7G8bK2_aRiY7kiHJOpTP2xY40icjcx3KNB2ZV-fiWr4L5Un7DhVplJY-EfRWMVfUFbkQgC9APcolKiopiJmCSlCPY/s400/Dress+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
I have never used stretch fabric before and in fact, apart from a brief excursion into making a skirt last year (which ended up too big really), I haven't done any dressmaking since I was at school! First I had to download the pattern and glue it all together. Loved doing this!

Then I pinned it all on to the fabric. I managed to get some very cheap at Fabric Land for my first practice
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6C5OcWSeDRYkUd3xUqQbKSRbqUYJ7JeTVRqyvcz2DZB3vrwkoTMqZvOM_qVQ2naIbs9zm9ECA-d_jWqRwzEXCqGTdRs4UJInAvDGBq6Cbt6ugq80sWciNTb-hmrcr38UX71Duwn5Xr3k/s1600/Dress+(4).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6C5OcWSeDRYkUd3xUqQbKSRbqUYJ7JeTVRqyvcz2DZB3vrwkoTMqZvOM_qVQ2naIbs9zm9ECA-d_jWqRwzEXCqGTdRs4UJInAvDGBq6Cbt6ugq80sWciNTb-hmrcr38UX71Duwn5Xr3k/s400/Dress+(4).JPG" /></a></div>
My fabric had a directional pattern so I did actually remember to compensate for that so I wouldn't have any upside-downy deer! Well I had to concentrate lots so there are no more pics of the process; BUT.....here is the finished thing!

I am very pleased with the fit, although it does make me look a bit pregnant in these photos, and I need to practise tying the tie bit, but all in all a success! I won't be wearing it as a dress however....don't have the legs!Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-19568121169527418532014-04-12T19:37:00.000+01:002014-04-12T19:37:26.471+01:00Recycle, re-use.....Ooo it's the holidays and I have been busy, busy!! First off I have made a quilt! Yes another one. And the best thing of all is that it hasn't cost me a penny! It began with me buying this magazine;
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB-M-KT5q7fijI0WdyeUqTHbSJGXuGHTkeo9x51T5jtccevzlbsmB-WQTzqtu8eCbva-cGcuh1ALIh7ElE5uRxpqEOfMbR3LoapIXraaud8xoGKAUFAqfe6jgzgnnJzWZg-cU5JGELbFk/s1600/Denim+Circles+(17).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiB-M-KT5q7fijI0WdyeUqTHbSJGXuGHTkeo9x51T5jtccevzlbsmB-WQTzqtu8eCbva-cGcuh1ALIh7ElE5uRxpqEOfMbR3LoapIXraaud8xoGKAUFAqfe6jgzgnnJzWZg-cU5JGELbFk/s400/Denim+Circles+(17).JPG" /></a></div>
It is a lovely mag, with lots of nice, modern scrappy quilts; right up my street. Inside was this one designed by Allison Harris.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWO2uSbw9MWg-IjIJu3OhqiuY9BVxbhVRAU9H9dvi7R9gMhcflXpkJ9AlJerx9jzMtRgsBlfJYUqKEo_lOEfhxK-PG_S5Q-H_j_hiOU9W92Aj_hYqC1NjAE6PkJc23zU8p26VSWrJg4TY/s1600/Denim+Circles+(18).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWO2uSbw9MWg-IjIJu3OhqiuY9BVxbhVRAU9H9dvi7R9gMhcflXpkJ9AlJerx9jzMtRgsBlfJYUqKEo_lOEfhxK-PG_S5Q-H_j_hiOU9W92Aj_hYqC1NjAE6PkJc23zU8p26VSWrJg4TY/s400/Denim+Circles+(18).JPG" /></a></div>
Well I thought to myself, I rather like that so what do I have in my house to make it with? I know...a loft full of old jeans! The pattern called for 8" squares so I went and dug out 4 pairs of (large, bootleg) jeans. I cut them into said squares...
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-hhhFF5AN8LGvo1dhfkqDA2L99hcQTSlifrB_DBnRgWZLX2RrDJ9VoMyJgSmLnGTVXL0oAXALwgBUMJbpNxKPWQzAsZ30S_JdFNWAPuauxgJC51MbKKFTqqUJoc8pl_OvlG_L_Luqyp8/s1600/Denim+Circles+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj-hhhFF5AN8LGvo1dhfkqDA2L99hcQTSlifrB_DBnRgWZLX2RrDJ9VoMyJgSmLnGTVXL0oAXALwgBUMJbpNxKPWQzAsZ30S_JdFNWAPuauxgJC51MbKKFTqqUJoc8pl_OvlG_L_Luqyp8/s400/Denim+Circles+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
Next I raided my scraps for 48 different fabrics and cut out the circles....
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHlnc24GqQltn4e9fMl-0DcNVX4qKZx84WlmuaEvL71_YBo0xX1ebdbTggB0kBhIC7eaguZmiDsVX0cxQ8vtD_y4B_TIDIA54d0gdlemKqbhkdRmf6A48Xhmgk6xn0DCUTPCaaNc7gDvY/s1600/Denim+Circles+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHlnc24GqQltn4e9fMl-0DcNVX4qKZx84WlmuaEvL71_YBo0xX1ebdbTggB0kBhIC7eaguZmiDsVX0cxQ8vtD_y4B_TIDIA54d0gdlemKqbhkdRmf6A48Xhmgk6xn0DCUTPCaaNc7gDvY/s400/Denim+Circles+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
Next they were machined on leaving a raw edge to fray with use!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiKz4krxIIXqZfOtpMwgR5lzcv_QzeBiDd3l6e4gOA7dwglYrxU2kl7mCQSgJ4I4Mj7bwKkNmScMptmqOmmfz-acl99LtcRxqlaSDoZwhXxgy7v5mX4tW2hjguC3EGk23q4so495on6Fw/s1600/Denim+Circles+(3).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiKz4krxIIXqZfOtpMwgR5lzcv_QzeBiDd3l6e4gOA7dwglYrxU2kl7mCQSgJ4I4Mj7bwKkNmScMptmqOmmfz-acl99LtcRxqlaSDoZwhXxgy7v5mX4tW2hjguC3EGk23q4so495on6Fw/s400/Denim+Circles+(3).JPG" /></a></div>
Next they had to be cut into 4 pieces and mixed up.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcmGK0mpDrPcQQD3PtoJV2_0eyVNglMn9rHOI_XlG_b51ErtCSHolSk0C0eVfoKSHoMHZ4NcFMOBZm0nxBpHJw4awWH-rZUOtkngQ-6FlZNPH2zN3oNyB62D70yJY48I_C32V5k1W9HWc/s1600/Denim+Circles+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcmGK0mpDrPcQQD3PtoJV2_0eyVNglMn9rHOI_XlG_b51ErtCSHolSk0C0eVfoKSHoMHZ4NcFMOBZm0nxBpHJw4awWH-rZUOtkngQ-6FlZNPH2zN3oNyB62D70yJY48I_C32V5k1W9HWc/s400/Denim+Circles+(5).JPG" /></a></div>
Then I rejoined them back into circles, with each quarter now a different fabric.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8ReHYfywDoy2iF5_JMhxfttg50id7Fzyn9_xp483B8gCuBKeWuiD-5QJ5QEuJgR4foBcTicHbFLJyOYXr4NzarB2ngEN5GpNOSud8YHGjVAbhgSuwXAY-sXG9o7Sl19F3h3gJ7gkJIwY/s1600/Denim+Circles+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8ReHYfywDoy2iF5_JMhxfttg50id7Fzyn9_xp483B8gCuBKeWuiD-5QJ5QEuJgR4foBcTicHbFLJyOYXr4NzarB2ngEN5GpNOSud8YHGjVAbhgSuwXAY-sXG9o7Sl19F3h3gJ7gkJIwY/s400/Denim+Circles+(7).JPG" /></a></div>
Next arrange "in a pleasing manner" and join together, first in strips then all the rows.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZt5ayRZlEvSc5kSNCQUIJ6-96luveQ8PsnSfwSEZO3JUxoQ9F8Ltlzp5IWxmPyPuHHiBSVUtSUrFd6ilufQV8LBuSbZQSW0m1u2kbvm4TwPHlEwp3Ir6SeY7ihHucCzG5tP7ygX1WYb4/s1600/Denim+Circles+(8).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZt5ayRZlEvSc5kSNCQUIJ6-96luveQ8PsnSfwSEZO3JUxoQ9F8Ltlzp5IWxmPyPuHHiBSVUtSUrFd6ilufQV8LBuSbZQSW0m1u2kbvm4TwPHlEwp3Ir6SeY7ihHucCzG5tP7ygX1WYb4/s400/Denim+Circles+(8).JPG" /></a></div>
Instead of making a quilt sandwich with wadding etc I decided to back this with fleece. This I had bought a while ago for another denim quilt and luckily it was big enough.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFiMTdhQryywFAOh0OGEn8qupilKv2Y0xF4hdWw-5_0k6HLVJV8oJSkL3byS1akogIkbhhyphenhyphenc95qIA_yo8KW9bntt_p6u0cAmX6Lc-gGoyhRAwXPCwUgDETAVc9-OR8_My1gk2RnJ4U4ww/s1600/Denim+Circles+(11).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFiMTdhQryywFAOh0OGEn8qupilKv2Y0xF4hdWw-5_0k6HLVJV8oJSkL3byS1akogIkbhhyphenhyphenc95qIA_yo8KW9bntt_p6u0cAmX6Lc-gGoyhRAwXPCwUgDETAVc9-OR8_My1gk2RnJ4U4ww/s400/Denim+Circles+(11).JPG" /></a></div>
I decided just to quilt to the left and the right of each block seam.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSMWtIxR2epF5zSB4gRROyjl7nTyhLzg2pk8BYqveZXJJ-LyXxY2rbL6dVNZJEYrdikdrf46Uv-xEJ38r7IiPFCs4BDiJhjjwbyCQoedHxNE0q7miI82acqaK2y043b0ZQc523t1raZ5U/s1600/Denim+Circles+(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSMWtIxR2epF5zSB4gRROyjl7nTyhLzg2pk8BYqveZXJJ-LyXxY2rbL6dVNZJEYrdikdrf46Uv-xEJ38r7IiPFCs4BDiJhjjwbyCQoedHxNE0q7miI82acqaK2y043b0ZQc523t1raZ5U/s400/Denim+Circles+(12).JPG" /></a></div>
Finally I bound it using leftover backing from another quilt.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihUq5Yl3FRbCVqtdibOrByZkcfsnhzewLtQaTR96uhxYEdIqs_E2sELXhVxNkGwq7w0kLFmS90voc_YufmixWJn1BQsKlVAGIlHDGTP79rlQdEE4m_dXjUjMc3ZudQyPg_ZTpWKEPQd80/s1600/Denim+Circles+(13).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihUq5Yl3FRbCVqtdibOrByZkcfsnhzewLtQaTR96uhxYEdIqs_E2sELXhVxNkGwq7w0kLFmS90voc_YufmixWJn1BQsKlVAGIlHDGTP79rlQdEE4m_dXjUjMc3ZudQyPg_ZTpWKEPQd80/s400/Denim+Circles+(13).JPG" /></a></div>
There...all finished! I think this one will be for picnics! Can't wait 'til it starts to fray...
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiBueD3AoMjtti4OaOhviQJLpl88H8elLc8UIE_5fy2OL6WkirOvWfUEptkRdEl-3DD0QeMyPVycjW4bzGN64CRlvMFm_ZhYHVWkIsFFzQ5BzqdHA8ZAAgMYe_DwBc6sR1MRhSO71UooU/s1600/Denim+Circles+(16).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjiBueD3AoMjtti4OaOhviQJLpl88H8elLc8UIE_5fy2OL6WkirOvWfUEptkRdEl-3DD0QeMyPVycjW4bzGN64CRlvMFm_ZhYHVWkIsFFzQ5BzqdHA8ZAAgMYe_DwBc6sR1MRhSO71UooU/s400/Denim+Circles+(16).JPG" /></a></div>Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-22746344195833943142014-04-06T17:45:00.001+01:002014-04-06T17:45:36.509+01:00More Craft Cabin Crochet! It's coming along. I had quite a few squares to do this month so over the last few evenings I have knuckled down and got on with them. I showed you my six so here are Burnice's choice of six, executed in my oh-so-subtle colours!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyM-H7jRQg-ne_5hdCjnDqAPNV2AB5LRkcNKc05AmZDEj2U2cg-K9J_n9sd_R1uEAEmhnLr4X0HP0hK14iFGpQDLqCXAY873E857rO_XvdJrIm14eqYDGzMQl69e8nHstiiLMJPbwYlBY/s1600/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(6).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyM-H7jRQg-ne_5hdCjnDqAPNV2AB5LRkcNKc05AmZDEj2U2cg-K9J_n9sd_R1uEAEmhnLr4X0HP0hK14iFGpQDLqCXAY873E857rO_XvdJrIm14eqYDGzMQl69e8nHstiiLMJPbwYlBY/s400/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(6).JPG" /></a></div>
Some look a bit misshapen but I'm sure that when they are all sewn together they will be fine!!
Now Linda's choice; some of these caused me issues I can tell you, but finally they are done!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1KFd0_b-I-Z5Fh8MZEFDDKbUY48SOR2bZ9l7Z8DofHyncfUBm939gJMKcjSglbMVyEal5IcRtRMJ4SM0UEsvoxuPqaV2G7ujH3Gu7v5lZ7jf5CiGU5n5Kzi0GVeX3big2tJ5u_2qtLPY/s1600/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1KFd0_b-I-Z5Fh8MZEFDDKbUY48SOR2bZ9l7Z8DofHyncfUBm939gJMKcjSglbMVyEal5IcRtRMJ4SM0UEsvoxuPqaV2G7ujH3Gu7v5lZ7jf5CiGU5n5Kzi0GVeX3big2tJ5u_2qtLPY/s400/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(7).JPG" /></a></div>
So that is 36 done now! Here they are all together.....only another 64 to go! I'm still liking the colours.....

It would appear from the lack of post on my blog that I have been doing nothing. But let me assure you, nothing could be further from the truth! I have finally finished a tunic style jumper I was knitting for myself. In this picture it looks a rather dingy colour but it is in fact, a rather lovely meadow green. It fits well but I think if I did it again, I would make it a bit longer.

I rather like this moss stitch detail on the shoulder...
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh98iBl0axEupfPZqcQqxEjCyUkCawjZ_BVrXrWRj-KET11_30_v1MihQ9SltSzeh_rBx-FkrNPo14sIdpujUfwKWL-947U-azNq-0HSo_awUzE01cbLtH9vFLB7b06_KPjpJoYW8ee0Cc/s1600/Green+jumper+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh98iBl0axEupfPZqcQqxEjCyUkCawjZ_BVrXrWRj-KET11_30_v1MihQ9SltSzeh_rBx-FkrNPo14sIdpujUfwKWL-947U-azNq-0HSo_awUzE01cbLtH9vFLB7b06_KPjpJoYW8ee0Cc/s400/Green+jumper+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
I have also finally finished the Pansy Quilt! It's not perfect; I would have liked a 2" border of green around the edge before the binding but hey-ho, it is what it is!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiizJMeGxZKwNOcFhOwE6bA6Z6I6GXhrOat3XS41CVUv5aXvU8EX4qaXoInfYmvM-EVTIynZL6AJ2ALw6CRAjU4ef_MX50GiuUGKPQe9ZqIiXF46J2srp30BHhyphenhyphenTih1jHw0FfCTKSTm1Uc/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(14).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiizJMeGxZKwNOcFhOwE6bA6Z6I6GXhrOat3XS41CVUv5aXvU8EX4qaXoInfYmvM-EVTIynZL6AJ2ALw6CRAjU4ef_MX50GiuUGKPQe9ZqIiXF46J2srp30BHhyphenhyphenTih1jHw0FfCTKSTm1Uc/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(14).JPG" /></a></div>
I finished joining it all together and then cut out the wadding and backing before I set to quilting it. I was the home contact for a Scout hike event last weekend, so I had to stay at home all weekend, providing the perfect opportunity to crack on!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO5yCEfCpvgAAF8kuLA4teUysyX87Z-t5hqCpU80NTMV_VLS2FjjRqABY7e9hhMW4QN9YlQQmMVWXXhUx5SDbnA-igoTR-lo-hvd9JJsKqWs105VJeop9H4caeh5XReQTMwbrrgIQM_uQ/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(15).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO5yCEfCpvgAAF8kuLA4teUysyX87Z-t5hqCpU80NTMV_VLS2FjjRqABY7e9hhMW4QN9YlQQmMVWXXhUx5SDbnA-igoTR-lo-hvd9JJsKqWs105VJeop9H4caeh5XReQTMwbrrgIQM_uQ/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(15).JPG" /></a></div>
I couldn't really decide the best way to quilt those wonky squares so after stitching in the ditch for the straights I just went around them.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdPuQZ3S3RG6DRM-BAqxZ6YLvZlKbWlgJX4anJz_8x-4R-dnh6FzVsVUt91VnnrAdblDDu_aX-dSnhVLOj_unSkPuzVzKb6SxmExX0jxiJNiWWDgRicDrUQjZFNIyEzqPOrO-O7N4-Sdc/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(16).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdPuQZ3S3RG6DRM-BAqxZ6YLvZlKbWlgJX4anJz_8x-4R-dnh6FzVsVUt91VnnrAdblDDu_aX-dSnhVLOj_unSkPuzVzKb6SxmExX0jxiJNiWWDgRicDrUQjZFNIyEzqPOrO-O7N4-Sdc/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(16).JPG" /></a></div>
I had ordered my backing over the internet; I was going to have purple but they didn't have that so I thought green. But then I panicked that it might not match enough so I went for a total contrast of pink! I love the pink and green together!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh46Vnoyb_yIfBaqvFJWlu-_OjiSBprOikWdJm2fb5DzGJe6Cb6VRXRMECKJ2bn8B2Fpk6Fi6890O1ruZixSkrxnjVn5D2W2xxzgFVQwbx83aXyXeVChWB4lLpUOiQXVIF0WaABLlympZQ/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(18).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh46Vnoyb_yIfBaqvFJWlu-_OjiSBprOikWdJm2fb5DzGJe6Cb6VRXRMECKJ2bn8B2Fpk6Fi6890O1ruZixSkrxnjVn5D2W2xxzgFVQwbx83aXyXeVChWB4lLpUOiQXVIF0WaABLlympZQ/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(18).JPG" /></a></div>
Finally I used the leftover bits of pansy fabric to make the binding; the first time I have done a scrappy binding and I quite like it!
So two more finished projects. The other knitting one is still creeping along......Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-14531458514589286562014-03-23T20:01:00.002+00:002014-03-23T20:01:56.567+00:00Some more crochet....I said I would show you more...these are the next six squares that I chose.

I have more stuff to show later.......Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-43401637437588142182014-03-16T16:54:00.001+00:002014-03-16T16:54:26.984+00:00Sharing some Happiness!Ooo it's been a while since I blogged hasn't it? I have been busy creating but at the moment I am knitting two long term projects so there isn't a lot to show. I have some more bright crochet squares to show but I need to sort them out and I have had a ridiculously mad week at work this week. So excuses over I am still finding "Happy Things" which I shall now share with you!
We (the Cabin Crocheters) all got together and shared the squares we had done so far! They looked great all together.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ht8kZVy6snPlulioEH2Y2ERoIsFwCPrE5L1vPi9GHMS1cRuYPqI30wEg7M-kIo8Ajw6sOvy68iUSnH_bMqvKDqMR9wRDjeEbLsvnAc927xy21ThGRKzYvSwJ_ffPF4RhVAn7o04NhhI/s1600/9+of+52.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-Ht8kZVy6snPlulioEH2Y2ERoIsFwCPrE5L1vPi9GHMS1cRuYPqI30wEg7M-kIo8Ajw6sOvy68iUSnH_bMqvKDqMR9wRDjeEbLsvnAc927xy21ThGRKzYvSwJ_ffPF4RhVAn7o04NhhI/s400/9+of+52.JPG" /></a></div>
The next week we finally had some sunshine. Several consecutive days of it in fact, with warm temperatures and everything! This glorious sunrise met me one morning as I let the dogs out at silly o'clock and set off for a run! So much easier to run against this backdrop!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUK7QrHOxUvSp46TOE1EJoolR3p-S8xIMxppF1Ls3bI7zsYb_h42_PCofaW7yiICAjbc5gZsmGm2rriUfbSHgrM437QlvH1pFTBfdtKsk8ReWQMKLX0l_UeP-rR1Z9aDpmIh4Qx2mf8EU/s1600/10+of+52.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUK7QrHOxUvSp46TOE1EJoolR3p-S8xIMxppF1Ls3bI7zsYb_h42_PCofaW7yiICAjbc5gZsmGm2rriUfbSHgrM437QlvH1pFTBfdtKsk8ReWQMKLX0l_UeP-rR1Z9aDpmIh4Qx2mf8EU/s400/10+of+52.JPG" /></a></div>
And just to finish it off I have already done Week 11 although it doesn't officially end until Tuesday evening! I just don't think I will see anything that makes me happier than these gorgeous magnolia flowers that I have to walk past to get into school every day! It's official...Spring has sprung!

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnEGBIaQYfb_oNDFklUgC9G4x_I7BizvVM3N4yImu7zIJ9kAB6YY84uCF7HeJTOFmhYbGLW8_QLfb1YvpcYiP794w4qKCSIm5__tpa9NIY6Pc9Fodd5SE437rKcUjmEHiiODVRsTfqNjs/s1600/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(5).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgnEGBIaQYfb_oNDFklUgC9G4x_I7BizvVM3N4yImu7zIJ9kAB6YY84uCF7HeJTOFmhYbGLW8_QLfb1YvpcYiP794w4qKCSIm5__tpa9NIY6Pc9Fodd5SE437rKcUjmEHiiODVRsTfqNjs/s400/Craft+Cabin+Crochet+(5).JPG" /></a></div>

First you have to admire in close, close detail the lovely pansy fabric! Stroke it, smell it, fold and unfold it and then spend ages thinking of the best way to show it off! Linda and I trawled through books and magazines before I decided upon the first one I had seen! It came from this book;
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk7LEFxAhA8Kj8ETEzM3-SF8-CVpRDUMC4xcAbCCC3XpSikPJB9mT5EnP4iHldKDmFr3D5PeruXF-UrC6hv6PDbSFlHbN7AOAVtJ0GRoGR5RfWOxwLXHpL3sl57TBy7v7IZN7w6pIoGF0/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(12).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhk7LEFxAhA8Kj8ETEzM3-SF8-CVpRDUMC4xcAbCCC3XpSikPJB9mT5EnP4iHldKDmFr3D5PeruXF-UrC6hv6PDbSFlHbN7AOAVtJ0GRoGR5RfWOxwLXHpL3sl57TBy7v7IZN7w6pIoGF0/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(12).JPG" /></a></div>
It was just a picture, no pattern, so I had to think about exactly how it was going to come together.

First of all I cut the pretty fabric into 6.5" squares.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJy0ZtYZUz1tGBcGBmlZhA-nU2VmFSob6XABwJpq23hYogUg6rpqDp9xmSDAPxDXkfT35fIDTVwbZ7LmO-uknji4tB8bf7qfB7qfSDTiX9YBGj_RKfnbosWi7DaiKmpKCbjklMNSaNgMU/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(7).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJy0ZtYZUz1tGBcGBmlZhA-nU2VmFSob6XABwJpq23hYogUg6rpqDp9xmSDAPxDXkfT35fIDTVwbZ7LmO-uknji4tB8bf7qfB7qfSDTiX9YBGj_RKfnbosWi7DaiKmpKCbjklMNSaNgMU/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(7).JPG" /></a></div>
Then I trimmed the edges to make them wonky....much to Eliza's horror!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9zLBA5DIxpoaxbz6Hq7k6F0QU8DB3cTxzImXlI8KZDghizhRK3Ad4D65XUK0tEqGpbQS1ZABUVXhJA_ljCp3SIHO_ZtDjYpR7O-Bb2GZCYCrvHiprBC4aj9XHjnhO-c2ozFg6IrrAFoI/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(8).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9zLBA5DIxpoaxbz6Hq7k6F0QU8DB3cTxzImXlI8KZDghizhRK3Ad4D65XUK0tEqGpbQS1ZABUVXhJA_ljCp3SIHO_ZtDjYpR7O-Bb2GZCYCrvHiprBC4aj9XHjnhO-c2ozFg6IrrAFoI/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(8).JPG" /></a></div>
Then I joined them to a 3" strip. This was my first calculation error. I had forgotten that my borders actually only needed to have a finished measurement of 1" and that my final squares wanted to be 8.5" (before joining) so I had drastically cut my strips too wide!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF-qjyC2hIzag6cULrtSk7VODSToDzRGB0ICfeI1H5o2_IShHjI_8OPh5eNhXAW6kFMoNfmP5r0ge6fK7Ac2_sf14qzNULdRLnJ2-C-GmolcVZo5_cPNUIkYjNLCP5DkIQV_uOZxVOz5Q/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(9).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF-qjyC2hIzag6cULrtSk7VODSToDzRGB0ICfeI1H5o2_IShHjI_8OPh5eNhXAW6kFMoNfmP5r0ge6fK7Ac2_sf14qzNULdRLnJ2-C-GmolcVZo5_cPNUIkYjNLCP5DkIQV_uOZxVOz5Q/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(9).JPG" /></a></div>
Then I trimmed them off their strip and repeated on the other side. This time I used a narrower strip as I had discovered my error!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZEojViYmeQ3en1due0WcJ6IAGASfsZKC6LJpG2nMzMuqNahoKq7dO67nEs2rwugZmfQXez7W1_UF5bstHMkikIWfNRP_8fbIvIF6iXuy0LccXFDQcP9wDb2lwRgizm44HA1mHVDYFrDM/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(10).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZEojViYmeQ3en1due0WcJ6IAGASfsZKC6LJpG2nMzMuqNahoKq7dO67nEs2rwugZmfQXez7W1_UF5bstHMkikIWfNRP_8fbIvIF6iXuy0LccXFDQcP9wDb2lwRgizm44HA1mHVDYFrDM/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(10).JPG" /></a></div>
All this shilly-shallying about meant I now didn't have enough green fabric to finish all the edges so I only managed to complete 9 squares AND despite careful trimming as I went, they have ended up 8" square before sewing together.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh17eUdyBmEZ1VRriag_7i5vqE98fFbvMBe0r01jlFrhzffueH6wTDXXTUH4C0OctxFAig5ElxIObsSvE2_MVFbRz1uA2kq0x-LIouNgmeOF5NkkgkQE3f5LxIQ7OexWt8K3jJGxYbkco/s1600/Pansy+Quilt+(13).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhh17eUdyBmEZ1VRriag_7i5vqE98fFbvMBe0r01jlFrhzffueH6wTDXXTUH4C0OctxFAig5ElxIObsSvE2_MVFbRz1uA2kq0x-LIouNgmeOF5NkkgkQE3f5LxIQ7OexWt8K3jJGxYbkco/s400/Pansy+Quilt+(13).JPG" /></a></div>
Well you get the idea. Now I need to buy more green to finish it off. Hmmmm need to plan more carefully next time as I ended up wasting quite a bit of trimmings. Or use a pattern!Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-90241978728224261892014-03-01T14:33:00.000+00:002014-03-01T14:36:49.834+00:0052 Weeks of HappyJust a quick one today as I am in the middle of creating something......
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYO2K5z8Six48VvSKzW_H1q42O4LgaVjpcVh1LYLt3r2VylWcxVXDEqGldqMcOgoJL6tP8Td6w31pZ2sYks5SzK_5u5Sm8frxPJCSs5_8TGhCUyfvbFav_jtv37_QlMpwNAYIvB-Pxd10/s1600/7+of+52.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYO2K5z8Six48VvSKzW_H1q42O4LgaVjpcVh1LYLt3r2VylWcxVXDEqGldqMcOgoJL6tP8Td6w31pZ2sYks5SzK_5u5Sm8frxPJCSs5_8TGhCUyfvbFav_jtv37_QlMpwNAYIvB-Pxd10/s400/7+of+52.JPG" /></a></div>
We went up to London as Eliza has been desperate to buy a pair of Doc Martens for ages.We always go to <a href="http://www.britboot.co.uk/engine/shop/index.html">The British Boot Company</a> in Camden as they stock the biggest range in the UK. Eliza bought a navy pair and I was completely and utterly smitten by a gold pair. I now have 4 pairs of DMs! Katy however couldn't see a pair she liked so we went to Covent Garden where there is another DM shop. They tend to sell much more exclusive (for that read expensive!) boots, as well as the very seasonal ones. Katy had seen a fab spotty pair online so she got them there. They gave her this amazing bag to carry them in. Eliza and I were very jealous so we managed to blag one each!
At the end of half term, I had a day sewing at Linda's house. Just round the corner from her is a GORGEOUS fabric shop, <a href="http://www.eclecticmaker.co.uk/">The Eclectic Maker.</a> Imagine my excitement when I saw this beautiful fabric; it has pansies on it! Now they are my absolute favourite flowers IN THE WORLD! I love their little screaming faces but as they are an old fashioned sort of a flower, most fabrics are a bit old fashioned too.

These were not! I had to buy 6 different fat quarters. So, so happy!

We both have several of those little patchwork 2 1/2" squares and didn't know what to do with them but Linda had found a pattern for a cushion. It was meant to be 5 squares by 7 squares with no border down the sides so that it resembled a photo contact sheet. However, I decided that I would take the idea and fit it to my own cushion. I chose to go with 5x5 squares.
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDcYT_vGhA71u4y3c2VOMh-ipoZDXTNF4b4bH3snFlKW-AYPKpVrY5wCSMyFdTA0W4oMTQNuV1WaThIfiS8T5ekY2SE8LraL4qNpXNA7-O_GaL2TezaiwK2xM6_5iSsNepSKZvQ89kjtc/s1600/Contact+print+cushion+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDcYT_vGhA71u4y3c2VOMh-ipoZDXTNF4b4bH3snFlKW-AYPKpVrY5wCSMyFdTA0W4oMTQNuV1WaThIfiS8T5ekY2SE8LraL4qNpXNA7-O_GaL2TezaiwK2xM6_5iSsNepSKZvQ89kjtc/s400/Contact+print+cushion+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
I will confess that I did just bang it all together, with little regard to squaring it all up. I even made the classic error of stitching each row to the one above, in the same direction. The result of my slapdash-ness? Well it was dead wonky! I couldn't really be bothered to undo it all but after looking at it for a bit I decided that I just would not be able to quilt it so I did unpick the worst row and jiggle it so it was a bit straighter!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjez5GftZmewMIa-Eh_lpEmfGSVRNsEe0KlVPGhw1A0KShWPfuqim-gYp2zcjGAuf-rhvDRAXwt6dIaB_ocJAMxv7x5HmfIKylkF2OCIQCW_bEsw7fp2UJuiiBgvOQGx-FOTvbtjAUdJY/s1600/Contact+print+cushion+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjez5GftZmewMIa-Eh_lpEmfGSVRNsEe0KlVPGhw1A0KShWPfuqim-gYp2zcjGAuf-rhvDRAXwt6dIaB_ocJAMxv7x5HmfIKylkF2OCIQCW_bEsw7fp2UJuiiBgvOQGx-FOTvbtjAUdJY/s400/Contact+print+cushion+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
A quick whizz up and down (in alternate directions this time!)with a fabby pink thread, and the front was done. Just need to add the back and pop it on a cushion now.Chicken Lickenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05781015395839834367noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8664082611429242956.post-10935174520108323202014-02-21T20:38:00.000+00:002014-02-21T20:38:40.841+00:00Am I late......or early? So this week I have something knitted to show you....
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSsUPcie7TJfQaoMAWXxo5pyJs6ChMH6MklBmmwQ1Hz5l9fUEBrqzVFt_l6FdLYa0DASXItoI-5oBVCHRXQwpk73xZwrZ2UFbHvb8Bf8_dpNsogy6IFXGnFtVE1_TlCVUzZIlGn2u5jB4/s1600/Jess+Vintage+Xmas+Jumper+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSsUPcie7TJfQaoMAWXxo5pyJs6ChMH6MklBmmwQ1Hz5l9fUEBrqzVFt_l6FdLYa0DASXItoI-5oBVCHRXQwpk73xZwrZ2UFbHvb8Bf8_dpNsogy6IFXGnFtVE1_TlCVUzZIlGn2u5jB4/s400/Jess+Vintage+Xmas+Jumper+(1).JPG" /></a></div>
Yes ok...it IS a Christmas jumper. I started it in December. But it is knitted in 4-ply so took aaaaages and grew really slowly! It is a pattern from Ravelry and is based on a 1940s style. Jess (eldest daughter) is really ino all things 1940s so it was her choice. I even managed to find some vintage buttons from my stash; although I think they are more 60s than 40s!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9GCiobcR8Bc2ux3CytD9wOXWP3LRRJf_wYKn13rHEyw14TtbrDxUTlZ5bfGRmpsAMU_CT2Hn6NiyHNYoMvy7_AnWzfL0v0KRdiNr7YNxauIPeWaFCmbgdkKVif_1Ossz1U_EjpqN6BiM/s1600/Jess+Vintage+Xmas+Jumper+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9GCiobcR8Bc2ux3CytD9wOXWP3LRRJf_wYKn13rHEyw14TtbrDxUTlZ5bfGRmpsAMU_CT2Hn6NiyHNYoMvy7_AnWzfL0v0KRdiNr7YNxauIPeWaFCmbgdkKVif_1Ossz1U_EjpqN6BiM/s400/Jess+Vintage+Xmas+Jumper+(2).JPG" /></a></div>
She is away at Uni so I posted it to her. Apparently it fits beautifully.

I have focused on the fact that I am not flooded; that I am better off than many in the UK at the moment, but these aren't things I can take a picture of! So for my week 5 I decided to take a picture of a Lego Day we had at school. In the morning the younger children spent the time learning how to build properly, by overlapping the joins, and how to construct a roof with supports. I have to confess that I was prepared to not enjoy this day as I find Lego frustrating in the extreme. However there was such a huge array of different bricks that I was able to build this church....complete with graves! Now I am converted!
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk9T_LgrVyHodTTbfk6cMpHl-0yPZ-xvb1pUApDXojAU0Ejy8EKJ3ig3i-e0Ro-ug24-pMjylVlcQ1_BDLZXzz6fQxaFo4t4gFtXObebIJ1RMb84lxCsNeJv4EnUMeI1B6A9iwZy13kEk/s1600/5+of+52.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk9T_LgrVyHodTTbfk6cMpHl-0yPZ-xvb1pUApDXojAU0Ejy8EKJ3ig3i-e0Ro-ug24-pMjylVlcQ1_BDLZXzz6fQxaFo4t4gFtXObebIJ1RMb84lxCsNeJv4EnUMeI1B6A9iwZy13kEk/s400/5+of+52.JPG" /></a></div>
Week 6 was easy-peasy. Burnice and Linda and I went to a "Vintage Fair". I think we were all expecting it to be crafts, tea-sets and collectables but it was mostly vintage clothing. We had a great time rummaging through the rails and spotting things we wore "back in the day"! Vintage seems to cover clothing right up the the 90s and there was a good selection of 80s shoulder pads and 70s hippy styles. Some nostalgia for all of us!

Hubby asked me if I could make her a little something....well I needed no further excuse to get out my hook and order wool so a baby ripple it was to be!
I bought several shades of blue and used a random stripe generator and this is it....

I found a rather lovely edging pattern on the Attic 24 blog that fills in the wiggle and then looks like blanket stitch...
