Day 4 LSNED...

So this one was about "what your feet can teach you". Well I LOVE these shoes..I bought them, wore them just a few hours the first day and built it up gradually cos they rubbed a bit....but still over a year later they rub! And still I wear them, cos I love 'em! So maybe this is a lesson I haven't learnt!

Day 3...

Today (well Sept 3rd, the day I did the page about!!) was my birthday so I really felt that my lesson ought to be about birthdays. Whilst I was out at work and ALL the rest of my family enjoyed a day off, my husband arranged "Happy Birthday" into 2 parts for violin and cello. Then when I got in I had a little concert! One of my other children also worked out the piano part too so I guess sometimes birthdays really aren't about the pressies...! (Tho they are always good!)

Day 2...

So Day 2 was an INSET day and I spent the day labelling pegs and books and trays etc. Last year we only had 20 children in the class and the year before only 22. This year we have 28 and I learnt that 28 children is going to be a WHOLE lot more work than just the smaller numbers we have been spoilt with! This will be the largest class I have ever worked with so quite an experience. Everything just takes so much longer to do....

What I learnt...Day 1

So this is the first page...what I learnt on Day 1! I tried to stick to the stitching theme with buttons and "stitchy" looking paper. I was going to send off for my photos at the end but I printed these trial ones on normal paper on the PC and they looked fine so I went with them...
29 to go!

It's begun...!

As you have no doubt noticed from the side bar I am embarking on another online scrapbooking class. Last Christmas I did Shimelle's "Journal Your Christmas" class and loved the process of the daily prompts and then a daily entry. So I signed up there and then for this one too. Well obviously you can't say what you learnt ON that day so we are working a day behind and my task yesterday was to create the cover. Those of you that know me , know I have been unable to cope with mass destruction of books in the name of Art...apart from the odd definition snipped from a tatty dictionary. Well after seeing Shimelles stitched pages on her book I decided to take the bull by the horns and just do it! I found an illustrated book of Hans Christian Anderson Fairy Tales for £1 in the charity shop and last night I ripped and stitched ALL the pages. So my lesson learnt for Day 1 was "a sewing machine can stitch more than just fabric....."

Catching up still!

More from my alphabet of tags. V for Vintage and I usually do tons of vintagey stuff with images from t'internet so I wanted to try and stamp a bit more on this one. BG is pastels stamped witha variety of travl themed stamps and the tag was an old tea-bag box (!). The idea was meant to be a vintage holiday leaflet....
Z for Zoo was a rummage in the stamp bag to see what animals I had....and they all seemed to be looking to the left! I printed off the song "Daddy's taking us to the zoo tomorrow" and used that as the BG, again with pastels. I stamped the freebie fairyland ticket from Craftstamper round the edge, trying to keep the "fairyland" bit off and then leopard stamped on the z which I then covered in glossy accents.
And finally for this batch M for Mystical. This is another Tandastamp (I promise you I don't work for them!!!) and I thought she looked like she might emerge from the sea. BG is distress ink, spritzed, then stamped with a wave pattern. Around the bottom are tiny beads in glossy accents but they don't show up too well in the pic! The lady was coloured with trusty watercolour pencils and then highlighted with H2Os.
Thank you all for leaving such great comments....they make a girl feel good!

Decorating the Loo!!!

Well I guess it all began with the puffer fish......he got a bit lonely until...
...he had some beautiful sea horse friends! Then my OH decided it was all a bit "girlie" so we HAD to have a shark....
...and it grew! My son wanted a diver and the squid....and I wanted some "pretty" fishies........
..so this is what my children have been doing for the last week! I am really proud as I have had little or no input and they have done the WHOLE lot on their own including the blue sea and yellow sand! The project has used all my old tins of paint from decorating our various houses and all it has cost me is 99p for a match pot of red...the only colour we didn't have! We have mixed oil-based and water-based paint; matt and gloss but so far so good! Now I think we have a jelly fish and a few shells still to come...and maybe an angler fish......
