LTDO Challenge

Now this was a challenge indeed for me! The challenge was "to use a canvas". First of all I had to buy a canvas!!! I found this one in a local shop but at 20"x8" it was quite a daunting size to start with! I have always fancied the idea of a canvas with the children on so now was my chance. With Jess's help I managed to collect some pics of them and printed them onto lazertran to transfe them to the canvas. I added lots and lots of gesso and silver paint, splodged on with a sponge. I used some music pages (around my musical children!) and a piece of book text which happened to have Eliza's name on and a definition of family. I attached some shisha mirrors using crackle accents, some black glitter and a swirly stamp, some tiny beads in glossy accents and then printed with some bubble wrap to finish.

I am not quite sure how I feel about this piece....I think I like it, but I am not quite sure if it has enough depth or flow to it yet. And does anyone know why my images have gone all pink? Is it a funny reaction with the lazertran? I have never used that before either so lots of firsts for me this week!

Rolling Recipe Week 5 AND LTDO Challenge!

The LTDO Challenge this week is to use a machine so I used my Big Shot to emboss the dots (with a Cuttlebug folder) on the black core dinations card. Then I sanded it back a teensy bit and stamped and embossed the black and red hearts on the top part. Bird is stamped, coloured and glittered then attached on sticky pads and then sentiment was typed on the PC. So a double whammy as this weeks recipe is a stamped heart, a bird and the colour black!

And more...

Also in the summer hols (my don't THEY seem a millenia ago?) we visited Shakespeares Globe Theatre. Sadly we didn't go to a performance but the guided tour was amazing and so fascinating. Our Guide was really animated and when we were there they were taking publicity shots of the cast for the Summer Programme. Guess who was there? Only Matthew Kelly! And we saw him down on the stage! We weren't allowed to take pics whilst the cast were on the stage though.

Some more scrapbooking!

Continuing with 2009 and this page shows what my children did with our downstairs toilet. None of them liked going in it so I said they could paint it so that they WOULD! We found all the tins of leftover paint and away they went. The only bit done by an adult was the shark which Dad drew (but they painted!)

Rolling Recipe Tag Week 5

Week 5 and our Recipe was a stamped heart, red and text. I have had this stamp for a while, I bought it off a forum buddy, but I think I have only used it once, and I don't know why 'cos it's lovely! The BG I did using pastels and a sheet of scrap paper and copious amount of hairspray to fix it! Then added a strip of torn red card and the stamp, coloured with the good ol' water colour pencils. Finally I had a space at the bottom so added the 3 eyelets!
Week 6 requires BIRDS!!!! OMG better go start thinking....

This months CJ

This is the CJ entry I have just sent off! The stamp was this fancy key....I guess I was inspired by Valentines Day! The heart is mountboard, covered in card that I painted with red/black acrylic paint and then embossed in the Big Shot and then gave it a quick blast of cosmic shimmer. I just stamped the key and coloured it with distress inks; lock is a grungeboard one.
The reverse of the page was for the sign in so I used the same vellum for the BG and just added a hand coloured cockerel and some letter tiles.

UKStampers Charm swap

The delightful Minxy has arranged a charm swap on UKStampers. We all make 14 charms and post them to her and she is going to make them into bracelets for us! How lovely is that? These are REALLY bad photos but I tried each and every different way to no avail; these are the best ones.
The teeny hearts are friendly plastic (love this stuff!) and then I have just added "blue iris" crystal beads and some purple/blue seed beads interspersed with silver spacers. IRL they are very twinkly in an understated purpley sort of way! Hope peeps like them!

Rolling Recipe tag

I have lost count of what number week we are up to but this is the one for the week that ended yesterday. Recipe this time was stamped flower, text and the colour red so I went a bit oriental...well it is Chinese New Year too! Stamp is that handy free one from Craft Stamper (I LOVE this stamp) embossed in pirate gold, I hand drew the stems and the round dots are just from my hole punch. Text is the very very first rubber stamp I ever bought...

LTDO Challenge

This weeks challenge is "Love is in the Air". So this is my Valentine's card for my OH! I just loved this little frog when I saw him but this is the first time I have used him ...And I got to play with my cosmic shimmers (or whatever they are called!)
The copper colour has made him look "warty"! So a very simple card, just embossed BG and then raised the frog on silicone glue and a stamped greeting!

Rolling Recipe Week 3

Week Three and the ingredients were buttons, a stamped flower image and text. I was going to use real buttons for the whole BG but it was way too much, so instead I cut some out of my scraps of pink paper using a sissix die I have had for ages! The tag was painted with sparkly pink water colours (from the £ shop) before I stuck the buttons all on.
The flower was a free one from Craft Stamper that I stamped onto some book pages and coloured with pink Brilliance and a reddish ink pad. Finally I added a little puffy sticker to the middle! Liked this one even tho' it is rather a profusion of pinkness!

LTDO Challenge...Backgrounds

It has been a very busy week, hence the no blogging. What with Guides, Katy had a History presentation in Eastbourne, then her parents evening, then she and Jasper had a cabaret/concert last night and I am back on soap wrapping so the week has whizzed by with no crafting being done. Yesterday I popped to the Stitches Exhibition in Brighton. Not bad but very little scrapbooking bits. I did finally manage to buy some cosmic shimmers which I have been trying to get my mitts on for over a year and a couple of books that I couldn't find on amazon so it was worth the bus fare!
Anyway onto my LTDO piece which this week is "Backgrounds" Well it HAD to involve my new misters! I decided to make a page for my Snow Book. So i ripped up some pages from an old book (the Snow Queen), inked the edges and stuck them down. Then I covered them with spritzed distress inks and sprayed on a white shimmer mist (think it's called baby's breath!)
Once that lot had dried I stamped over with a circles stamp and a snowflake in silver Brilliance. I wanted a subtle effect as there will be a photo covering most of the page. It does look better IRL...these shimmery things are tricky to photograph aren't they!

More Scrapbooking!

Another DLO from my scrapbook of 2009. I am up to August now and this was a Survival Camp that we took a group of girls on. Now I am up for sleeping in a tent but this was a whole new kettle of fish! We built shelters from plastic sheets and rope and then laid bracken on the floor. We also did "backwoods cooking" which is cooking with no pots and pans. Each group planned their own menu and we ate like kings. We cooked plaice with potatoes, tomatoes, cheese and courgettes and then a kind of christmas pudding with bread, apples, orange and raisins, served with custard! Now I know why us Leaders are on the large side!

I found this rather cute paper with owls on; doubly significant as Leaders are different varieties of owl (well they are in Brownies. At Guides I am Robin and the Leader is Kestrel) and not only that, I think I got about 2 hours sleep as the owls in the wood were screeching all night long! A very scary sound when you are on the hard forest floor with only a plastic sheet for protection! I also added this little stamped owl!
Did I enjoy the experience? Hmmmm not too sure, the setting up and building and cooking bit was great but I think I prefer a proper tent as a minimum requirement!
